2-Time Champion Makes Feelings Clear on Eagles HC Nick Sirianni Not Letting Players Watch Super Bowl Banner Reveal

Retired Eagles two-time Super Bowl winner weighed in on his former team's decision in not having players show up for the Super Bowl banner unveiling.

When the Philadelphia Eagles organization unveils the Super Bowl 59 banner in Week 1, the players will not be watching. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters that his players have already moved on from their Super Bowl victory last season, and will not be watching when the banner gets unfurled. Recently retired Eagles star Brandon Graham backed his former head coach’s decision.

Brandon Graham Thinks Former Team Is Focused on Business in Season Opener

Graham was serving in his new role as media analyst, and was asked what he thought about Sirianni’s decision. He backed his former head coach, believing it was the right decision.

“They have moved on. I understand that as a player, as a captain, there are so many traps that are out there for you.”

He believes that if the Eagles were focused on the festivities and have a poor start to the season, the media will use that as fuel in their criticism.

“The media will say … oh, the Super Bowl hangover. They are thinking about the banner.”

Tapping into his experience, he explained the focus the team has on their opponents, the Dallas Cowboys.

“We are ready for the Cowboys, and they want to make it about that when they come out on that field, because it’s about taking care of business. So I understand.”

If anyone knows the Eagles organization, it is Graham. The pass rusher spent his entire 15-season career with the team, winning two Super Bowls in the process. He is currently third in the franchise’s all-time sack leaders with 76.5 sacks, behind Reggie White and Trent Cole.

Graham was instrumental in the first Super Bowl win in franchise history, sacking then New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the final Patriots drive of Super Bowl LII to seal the 41-33 victory. He also played in last season’s Super Bowl, recording one tackle in 13 snaps on defense.

Graham Gives Opinion in First Appearance in New Role As Television Analyst

The interview was part of Graham’s new role as a television analyst for NFL Network’s Emmy Award-winning show “Good Morning Football.” It was his first appearance on television, and he previewed the Eagles game against the Cowboys.

He has belief in his former team, and expressed his confidence that under Sirianni, the Eagles can return to the Super Bowl again this season.

Graham participated in the NFL’s broadcast boot camp program last year in preparation for life after football.
