Former Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe Reflects on a Strange Gift From Tom Brady That Gave Him Mixed Signals

Drew Bledsoe was one of the top quarterbacks for the New England Patriots. Tom Brady would take his spot, but his gift-giving skills were a bit of a surprise.

The New England Patriots have had a history of winning and the story of Tom Brady has helped that become what it is. Brady was able to begin his NFL career due to starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe suffering an injury sustained by a hit from then-New York Jets linebacker Mo Lewis.

Brady went through the full spectrum of an NFL career, going from a backup quarterback as a rookie to becoming one of the greatest football players in the history of the league. However, it certainly did not happen with his gift-giving, as one former teammate recalled. Who was it and what was the gift that had him scratching his head?

Drew Bledsoe Recalls Strange Gift From Tom Brady

While appearing on the May 14 edition of the ‘Up & Adams Show‘, former Patriots quarterback Bledsoe joined Kay Adams and discussed how Brady gave him a weird gift during Brady’s rookie season, which is nothing to compared to the watches the FOX commentator is wearing now.

“His rookie year, I think, he got the other quarterbacks, I think he got us cologne. … I don’t know if I should’ve been insulted, but he grew up with sisters so he at least had that going for him, but he definitely would not have been a watch guy in 2001, that’s for sure.”

Brady has been an avid collector of watches over the last few years and took to his Instagram stories to show off a black and gold Patek Philippe Geneve, which is estimated to be worth more than $1 million. He has been one of the most wealthy NFL players over the course of his playing career, as he currently has an estimated $300 million net worth, according to Yahoo.

Bledsoe would not be teammates with Brady for too long, as the former would join the Buffalo Bills for the 2002 season following the injuries and spent three seasons there before spending 2005-06 with the Dallas Cowboys. Brady would move to the starting quarterback position for the Patriots and win six Super Bowls with the franchise before winning a seventh with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It is unclear if Brady’s gift-giving abilities have improved over the years, but it is safe to say that Bledsoe was a bit unsure if the cologne that he was given contained a subliminal message about his body scent or was simply the byproduct of a rookie quarterback trying his hand at giving his teammates gifts for the first time.
