Drake Maye had a game that he’d probably just rather forget about on Sunday. Maye, the New England Patriots’ starting quarterback, was harassed pretty much all game long as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Patriots 29-13 to win Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Maye entered Super Bowl 60 on a bit of a roll. Maye led the Patriots back into the NFL’s premier game after playoff wins over the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos.
Patriots QB Drake Maye’s Performance vs. Seahawks in Super Bowl 60
Maye, who is in his second NFL season, led the Patriots’ offense onto the field at Levi’s Stadium. The franchise was looking for its seventh Super Bowl championship, having won six times, hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy once the final gun sounded.
Also, this was New England’s 13th Super Bowl appearance, which is the most for any NFL franchise. Maye had a chance to put his name beside former New England quarterback Tom Brady and lead the Patriots to victory, but it was not to be.
Maye was a first-round pick (No. 3 overall) by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. After one season under Jerod Mayo as head coach, New England fired Mayo and brought in former Tennessee Titans head coach and former Patriots player Mike Vrabel to fill that role.
Maye led the Patriots to a 14-3 overall season record in the 2025 NFL season. Then, adding to that mark, New England brings a 17-3 overall record into Super Bowl 60.
Through the regular season, Maye had a 72.0% pass completion percentage. He threw 31 touchdown passes, eight interceptions, and amassed 4,394 total passing yards for New England.
So, how’s Maye looking so far against the Seahawks’ defense and secondary?
In the first quarter, Maye was under pressure from the Seahawks’ defense a lot. Early in the second quarter, Maye was 5-of-7 passing for 39 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. Maye has been sacked three times for 30 yards in losses as the Seahawks held a 6-0 lead just minutes into the second quarter.
At halftime, the Seahawks were up 9-0 on three Jason Meyers field goals. Maye, at halftime, was 6-of-11 passing for 48 yards and still had no touchdowns or interceptions. Maye will have to have a better second half if the Patriots are going to come back and win Super Bowl 60.
Early in the fourth quarter, Maye was able to get the Patriots on the board, but the Seahawks were up 19-7 with less than 12 minutes to play. Maye, at this point, was 10-of-20 passing for 119 yards, one touchdown pass, and no interceptions.
On the night, Maye finished 27-of-43 passing for 295 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Maye was also sacked six total times for 43 yards in losses. For Maye, Super Bowl 60 will probably be a learning experience as he’s got a long NFL career ahead of him.
