One of the most surprising team turnarounds has been the New England Patriots, who currently hold a 9-2 record, placing them second in the AFC behind the Denver Broncos.
However, former quarterback Cam Newton is not sold on the Patriots and has been critical of them and quarterback Drake Maye. Here’s how fans reacted to his comments.
Fans Rip into Cam Newton for Comments on Drake Maye and the New England Patriots
The comment that Newton made, which sparked remarks and reactions from fans, is, “Drake Maye, respectfully, you’re having a great season, but I also put Drake Maye in the position where it’s like, yo, we don’t really know.”

Newton is well known for his wild takes that are as controversial as his outfits, and fans took to social media to express their displeasure.
In response, one fan said, “Cam Newton has got to be the most petty and jealous guy in football. He’s crying like a baby and taking every chance he has to talk bad about Drake Maye, just because he’s doing far better than he did with the Patriots.

Another fan called out Newton for being jealous of Maye, saying, “Drake Maye is what Cam wishes he was during his NE stint.” During his one season with the Patriots, the team went 7-9, and Newton threw for 2657 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Another fan mentioned that Maye idolized Newton growing up and said the hate is unwarranted. They said, “Drake Maye grew up in the Panthers’ Newton era and has spoken publicly about admiring his play from a young age. There aren’t the words for how badly this type of ‘content’ has damaged our sports. What are we even doing here?”
One fan makes fun of Newton’s Super Bowl loss against the Denver Broncos, highlighting when he refused to jump on a fumble. They posted, “Don’t talk about my QB,” with an image of the fumble.

Another fan calls him out for having a terrible season with the Patriots. They said, “Buddy still mad he had one of the worst seasons ever in New England and he lost his job to Mac Jones. I get it man.”
Another fan calls Newton biased and says that Maye has already had more success with the Patriots. “Cam Newton is clearly biased. He was the starting QB for that team, and Drake Maye has already had more success. That hurts Cam’s well-known fragile ego. Stephen A Smith, Kendrick Perkins, Cam Newton and Dan Orlovsky is an all time worst Lineup of Commentators.”

This wasn’t the only fan to call Newton out for being biased. Another fan sums up the interaction well, saying, “Mad cuz the Patriots kicked him to the curb lol. This dude is diabolical on the hater scale when it comes to personal bias.”

While Newton sits on his couch this weekend, Maye will inch his team closer to a potential Super Bowl win, something Newton didn’t achieve in his career.
