What Happened to Drake London? A Look at the Falcons Star’s Injury That Sidelined Him in Week 15 vs. Buccaneers

Latest news and injury update on Drake London as the Falcons gear up to face the Buccaneers in Week 15.

A prime-time divisional game arrives without the Atlanta Falcons’ top wideout. Drake London, who injured his knee late in Week 11’s overtime loss to Carolina, was ruled out on Dec. 10 and will miss his fourth straight game, despite an earlier “day-to-day” label from head coach Raheem Morris.

He did not practice at all in the lead-up to Week 15, making this his fifth missed game of the season.

Latest Drake London Injury Update

London sustained a knee injury in the final moments of regulation against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 16 and has not played since. The Falcons’ Week 15 injury reports listed him as a non-participant on all three practice days, and the team formally ruled him out for Thursday night vs. Tampa Bay.

The club previously said his status was “day-to-day” on Dec. 1, but he remained sidelined for Week 14 and now Week 15.

Team context underscores the impact. Despite missing the last three games, London still leads Atlanta in targets, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, 20-plus yard receptions, and first downs, reflecting his central role in the passing game when healthy.

With London out again, Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts are expected to serve as the lead receiving options as Atlanta seeks to manufacture explosive drives and sustain drives without its primary boundary threat.

When Will London Play Again? Return Timeline & Injury History

As of Thursday, there is no announced return date. London’s knee injury, described in team reports as a PCL sprain, has cost him Weeks 12 through 15.

He did not practice at any point this week, and the Falcons ruled him out a day before the game after listing him as a non-participant throughout the week. Any Week 16 availability would hinge on practice participation and medical clearance in the coming days.

Earlier this season, London missed Week 8 due to a hip injury, making Week 15 his fifth missed game in 2025 after only one absence across his first three NFL seasons.

In the three games immediately before the knee injury, he eclipsed 100 receiving yards each time, highlighting his form before the setback. The club’s current stance favors caution, given recent absences and the need for functional stability before resuming contact.

Performance context remains notable. Through nine games, London has 94 targets, 60 receptions, 810 yards, 13.5 yards per catch, and six touchdowns. He is averaging 90 receiving yards per game, and if he returns next week and maintains his prior efficiency, a second consecutive 1,000-yard season would remain attainable.

That outcome, however, depends entirely on medical progress and on participation in practice during Week 16 preparation.

Operationally, the Falcons have adjusted by funneling targets to Mooney and Pitts, with a heavier reliance on backs and schemed throws to generate chain-moving plays.

London’s absence leaves a noticeable void in both the explosive and possession phases of the passing attack, and with postseason contention out of reach, the club has little incentive to accelerate his return while less than fully healthy.

Any update on London’s status is expected to follow the team’s standard cadence: midweek practice reports, daily participation changes, and pregame designations.

In short, London is out for Week 15 and remains without a firm return date. Monitor next week’s practice participation for the earliest indicators of progress as the Falcons weigh long-term stability and player health over short-term availability.
