Domonique Orange’s NFL Draft Potential

Domonique Orange — also known as “Big Citrus” — has been one of the favorites as a natural nose tackle prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft since the summer. The 6’4″, 325-pound lineman and two-time honorable-mention All-Big 12 competitor, was a prominent name on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” list, with a documented 34″ vertical and 650-pound squat. For his size, Big Citrus has the juice, and it shows on film.

2024 was Orange’s career-best season, as the former four-star recruit logged 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. Off the raw stats alone, Orange’s 2025 campaign feels like a step down; he has yet to log a statistic behind the line of scrimmage through seven games. However, his PFSN CFB DTi grade has actually gone up year-to-year, from 74 to 75.4.

He’s averaging just 1.73 yards against on run stops per TruMedia, and while his pass-rush conversion hasn’t been great, he draws attention well with his motor, burst, and lateral agility at his size.

Orange will never be an elite pass-rush catalyst, despite his burst and power profile. He exhibits some minor stiffness in his midsection, and he doesn’t have great finishing flexibility. That said, power and quick swims are within Orange’s arsenal, and he’s flashed the ability to use upper-lower synergy to offset blockers and create angle advantages for himself.

Orange should exclusively be a target for teams that employ odd and hybrid-front alignments, but for those teams, he can be a high-value Day 2 or early Day 3 addition with immediate run defense utility and some projected value as a pass-rusher at the fulcrum.

CFB Week 9 Update

Orange did what he was asked in Iowa State’s 27-41 loss to BYU — nothing less, and not much more. When the game script gets away from you, there’s only so much a nose tackle without elite independent disruptive ability can do, and Orange was limited by that. In the ground game, he was able to hold up strong at the fulcrum, but his modest hip stiffness prevented him from getting off blocks or recovering gap leverage at times.

To Orange’s credit, he did notch a deflection at the line in the pass game — a reminder that he proactively uses his length to obstruct passing windows — but the limits of his mold are also clear.

Where Is Orange Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Orange currently holds the No. 66 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 73.0 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected on Day 2 or early Day 3.

The gap between his rank and ADP indicates that while he’s highly regarded on our board, draft simulators are seeing him slide slightly, possibly due to team needs or positional value considerations.

Users controlling the Atlanta Falcons have been the team that selected Orange the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.7% of their picks across all seven rounds.
