Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s time in the NFL has been marred by controversy, and the 2024 season was no exception. The always outspoken Hill started the season off handcuffed by law enforcement and face down on the pavement, and ended with him demanding a trade out of the city that had just welcomed him two years before.
However, the 31-year-old recently told the media that he is refocusing on being the best father and player. He admitted his recent actions didn’t reflect a team leader and said he knows he hasn’t earned the title of captain yet. He said he’ll have to prove it.
Now, one of his teammates is coming to his defense and letting the media know that his actions back up his words.
From Frustration To Focus: Tyreek Hill Is Setting the Tone for the Dolphins in 2025
Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb, who arrived in Miami in 2022, the same year as Hill, says he’s seen significant change. According to an NBC Sports article, Chubb recently said Hill is putting in the work this offseason to earn the trust and respect of his teammates.
“I’ve seen a growth and leadership from him, to be honest with you,” Chubb told the media after OTAs. “Just being around every day, leading the young guys from out front and just being that guy that we know he can be, that vocal leader.”
Chubb said that Hill also worked hard during drills, leading by example. He said Hill was showing his trademark speed by finishing drills first.
He added that Hill isn’t taking the easy way out. Chubb praised Hill for being so present, saying, “It’s easy to sit in the back when you’re a guy of that caliber and be like, ‘I don’t have to go to OTAs. I don’t have to do that.’ But to be here each and every day, working as hard as everybody else, even harder sometimes, it’s one of those things that you commend and respect, and we’re looking for a big year from him.”

Hill admitted he let his emotions get the best of him at the end of last season. The 8-8 finish, which fell short of the playoffs, frustrated many players, and Hill was no exception.
Hill’s Worst Season Could Spark His Biggest Comeback
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered two significant injuries during the season that limited him to just 11 games and impacted the team’s success. It certainly hurt Hill’s stats.
He had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023 with 119 receptions for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns, all career highs. The 2024 season was his worst in recent years, 81 catches for 959 yards and only six touchdowns.
Hill helped the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl 54. He’s a six-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler. But 2024 was the first time Hill missed the playoffs in his career, and the first time since 2015 he didn’t make the Pro Bowl.
The entire Dolphins team is ready to move on from a tough season and look ahead to 2025.
