When you think of the Miami Dolphins, you think of speed. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, and De’Von Achane have all torched opposing defenses in Mike McDaniel’s offense in recent years.
However, according to the latest two-round mock draft from PFSN’s Marco Enriquez, the team may look to add some versatility in late April.

Miami Dolphins to Make Changes After Missing Playoffs
2024 was the first year that Miami failed to make the playoffs since McDaniel took over in 2022. Since becoming Dolphins head coach, McDaniel has had success with his “speed kills” approach to offense. However, with Tua Tagovailoa missing significant time in 2024 with all-too-familiar concussion issues, the team struggled badly.
Tua’s ability to time passes perfectly allowed his speedy supporting cast to use their obvious physical advantages. Without that timing element, the offense was a shell of itself. With question marks over the long-term future in the NFL, McDaniel may need to pivot to an alternative offensive identity.
The 2024 offseason addition of tight end Jonnu Smith provided the team with a much-needed big-bodied target in the passing game. Smith out-targeted Waddle 111-83 in 2024, despite starting just six games. If Smith’s heavy involvement in 2024 is a sign of things to come in Miami, Enriquez’s prediction may carry some weight.
Dolphins Predicted to Select Tyler Warren with 13th Overall Pick
Smith will only turn 30 years old in late August, so should have plenty of productive years ahead of him. That being said, if the Dolphins intend to make the position a focus of their offense, they’ll want the best available option.
According to Enriquez, that option is Penn State’s Warren, the consensus top tight end in the draft. The do-it-all playmaker can block, dominate in the receiving game, and make plays after the catch. Plus with more and more NFL teams using two-tight-end sets, the Dolphins could line up with both Warren and Smith, while keeping Hill and Waddle on the field.
“The Miami Dolphins were once again a letdown in 2024. They have so many weapons, and for some reason, they just cannot put it all together. Adding yet another playmaker on offense gives Miami some more juice as they try to get over the hump in 2025. Tyler Warren could immediately become their top option at tight end.
Warren posted over 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He’s a playmaker with the ball in his hands and holds his own as a blocker. He excels in contested-catch situations and can be utilized in multiple offensive packages.”
Warren has the ability to be a big force in the NFL and would add another dimension to Miami’s offense. Having gone 24 years without making it beyond the wildcard round of the playoffs, it may be time for the Dolphins to take a big swing.
