Over a 15-year career, quarterback Matthew Stafford has solidified himself as a certifiable legend in the NFL. During his tenure with the Detroit Lions, he established himself as arguably the greatest player and certainly the greatest quarterback in the franchise’s history. Moving on to the Los Angeles Rams, his short tenure has already been wildly successful.
With a Super Bowl to their credit and a near-annual playoff guarantee, Stafford has become one of the most reliable signal-callers of the last decade and a half. But while he continues to wow on the football field, he’s also starting to build up an intriguing empire off it.

Angel City FC
In 2023, Stafford tightened his ties to the city of Los Angeles with an investment alongside his wife, Kelly Stafford, in the NWSL’s Angel City FC. His four daughters also came on as investors in a group that is becoming populated by some of the greatest in their fields.
Names like WNBA legend Candace Parker, US soccer legends Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach, alongside Hollywood superstars Natalie Portman, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Chastain, and Jennifer Garner, have also joined the crew. Tennis icon Billie Jean King and Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, were also part of the investment group.
In 2023, Angel City FC finished fifth in the standings with 31 points and an 8-7-7 record. Unfortunately, they took a downturn last season with just 24 points and a 12th-place finish (7-6-13). Through six games this season, Angel City has eight points and sits in sixth place in the standings at 2-2-2. There is certainly enough time for the team to continue to grow over the remainder of the year.

- Panini: A long-standing investment between the trading card manufacturer has led to multiple cards being issued throughout his career, beginning with his time as a rookie in the Detroit Lions organization and continuing throughout his tenure in Los Angeles as well.
- Fanatics: Another partnership that has extended for quite some time, Fanatics offers a wide range of products and merchandise specifically designed for the quarterback, including but not limited to jerseys, apparel, and even collectibles.
- Ford Motors: Thanks to his time at the appropriately named Ford Field in Detroit, Stafford has been a prominent member of their advertising group, especially with the F-150 truck in 2019.
- Pepsi Co: The Can Cave commercial will forever be a part of NFL lore, but the two-time Pro Bowler has been a long-standing endorser of the global soft drink giant.
