The Chicago Bears went on a 10-game losing streak after losing to the Washington Commanders last season. This year, they would have been hoping to reverse that trend or walk out with a win at the very least. Through the first half, they seemed to be on their way, with a 13-0 lead at one point in time and two turnovers on the Commanders.
The second half, though, saw Washington chip away at the lead before ultimately taking a 17-16 lead themselves. However, as time was winding down in the third quarter, the game may have dealt the Bears an even bigger blow, with star wide receiver D.J. Moore taken out of the game with an apparent injury.
What Happened to D.J. Moore?
After Washington took their first lead of the game behind a Luke McCaffrey touchdown, the Bears tried to respond instantly. Building a steady drive going the length of the field, it had some excellent screen plays to move the ball forward.
Moore had a catch worth four yards on the drive. But he came down hard on the play and was immediately taken off the field. He seemed to be favoring his lower back, but there was no official confirmation about his designation.
Earlier in the game, he came away limping after a hard tackle out of bounds as well. That time, it seemed like the contact came directly against his hip, before he tumbled and landed on it to make matters worse.
The broadcast confirmed that he was receiving attention on the sideline. However, on the next Chicago possession, he was back in the mix, providing excellent blocking to allow D’Andre Swift to add another touchdown and bring the Bears right back into the game.
The relief from the fan base may have been short-lived, though. After the game, a scary update came about, with Underdog providing the update on X. “DJ Moore will stay overnight in the DC area for precautionary medical attention,” the update began.

However, the second line was the scary part of the equation: “He left the stadium in an ambulance postgame.” Chicago Tribune beat writer Brad Biggs confirmed that an official update would come via head coach Ben Johnson on Tuesday afternoon.
Any injury can never be a good sign for a team, but a Bears team that is entering a stretch where their next four opponents, the New Orleans Saints, the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the New York Giants, have six combined wins between them in 24 games, has the luxury of an easy stretch to allow Moore proper recovery time if the need arises.
