In a surprising twist at the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns picked Dillon Gabriel two rounds ahead of Shedeur Sanders.
The Oregon quarterback is up for a tough battle for the starting job with Sanders and veteran QB Joe Flacco, but for now, he is making headlines with his fiancée, middle-school love Zoe Caswell.

Gabriel got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Zoe Caswell a day after his debut with the Ducks in September 2024. The couple has been dating since middle school, but in Caswell’s words, their first interaction was quite weird.
“We met in the summer of seventh or sixth grade, actually, because we were both new to his school, so we had an orientation class. We met gardening, funny enough, and he kept coming closer and closer to me, and I was like, ‘Who’s this weird guy?’,” she said.
Caswell would soon fall for that ‘weird guy’, and they would start dating in 11th grade. She was a regular at Gabriel’s games through six years in college football and celebrated the QB’s selection in the 2025 NFL Draft alongside his family.
“Cleveland!! We’re ready!!!!,” she captioned the post celebrating Gabriel’s selection.
Gabriel was widely projected to be a Day 3 pick but was drafted 94th overall by the Browns in the 2025 draft, joining a quarterback room featuring veteran Flacco, Deshaun Watson, and the recently acquired Kenny Pickett via trade.
The Browns then went back into the pool in the fifth round to select Sanders 144th overall.
Gabriel spent three years at UCF before an injury ended his junior season, then he transferred to Oklahoma. After two seasons there, he entered the transfer portal again, this time opting to play for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks, where he finished with a career-high 3,857 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Over his six years in college, Gabriel threw for 18,722 passing yards and 155 passing touchdowns with just 32 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,209 yards and 33 touchdowns.
