The Dallas Cowboys have been making moves to try to make it back to the postseason after missing it in 2024. One move they made was trading with the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens to add a secondary receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys’ offense was a bit of an issue last season, as they finished 23rd with a 68.2 Offensive+ grade. Fans have been comparing Pickens with former Cowboys All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant. Bryant explained how he felt about the trade on social media, and it will be interesting to see how Dallas shapes up heading into the 2025 season.
Dez Bryant Discusses George Pickens’s Move to the Dallas Cowboys
While discussing the newest wide receiver on the roster, Stephen Jones spoke about how the team viewed Pickens and said: “We take him as more than a two (receiver) when we were looking at the deal. … He reminds a lot in our building of Dez Bryant in terms of his competitiveness and what he brings to the field.”
Bryant shared his reaction to the trade on X and said, “I texted Stephen Jones at 6:27 a.m. the day of the trade to let him know how much I loved the trade. Our feelings were mutual! September 4th can’t come fast enough. I will be in the building!”

Pickens has produced well throughout the first three years of his career with the Steelers. In 48 games (40 starts), he has 174 receptions on 293 targets for 2,841 yards (16.3 yards per catch) with 12 touchdown receptions as well as eight rushing attempts for 36 yards (4.5 yards per reception) and a rushing touchdown.
The former Steeler is also on a contract year since Pittsburgh did not pick up his fifth-year option. This means Pickens will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 season, so it will be interesting to see if the Cowboys sign him to a long-term deal ahead of the season. Bryant and Pickens have very similar play styles. They are both bigger wide receivers with an emerging presence, and they made it to America’s Team.
Pickens has been one of the more intriguing wide receivers, and having quarterback Dak Prescott throw him the football while having the second defensive back defend him will likely help him perform better. Dallas is in a tough division, but they certainly have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league, and it’ll be something to follow as the season goes along.

as a Dallas Cowboys fan, since the 70’s of course all the sports media groups made comparisons to both Dez Bryant and George Pickens they both are talented and both doesn’t know how to be team players they only think about themselves
