New York Giants running back Devin Singletary’s fantasy football outlook in 2024 will have nothing to do with his production in 2023 as a member of the Houston Texans. Here at Pro Football Network, though, we do have fantasy team names using Singletary that you could use, like “Young, Free, and Singletary.”
Below, I’ll check out Singletary’s 2024 fantasy outlook now that he’s with a new team and decide whether he’s a good pick.
Devin Singletary’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
The Zero-RB fantasy football strategy is popular, and with Singletary going as the RB33 while being the projected starter, he could be a popular candidate for those who want to attempt to make it work.
According to TruMedia, Singletary had 216 carries for 898 yards and four scores in 2023 with the Texans. Of his 216 totes, 134 came on first down, and 204 came on first or second downs. Interestingly, he averaged 4.1 and 4.0 yards per carry on first and second downs. In comparison, he averaged 5.6 yards per carry on third downs (11 carries for 62 yards). Three of his four touchdowns occurred on first down.
Singletary signed a three-year, $16.5 million deal with the Giants. This is a fairly sizable investment at the running back position, especially for a team like the Giants that has question marks all over its offense.
Singletary will be the RB1 on the depth chart, but he has Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Eric Gray behind him. Gray had a big performance in Week 1 of the preseason. He had four carries for 52 yards and two scores and caught four passes for 46 yards. Tracy had five carries for 26 yards.
Singletary also caught 30 passes for 193 yards in 2023. He’s only had less than 30 receptions in a season once (he finished with 29 as a rookie).
Is Singletary a Good Fantasy Pick?
Singletary has big money for the position behind him, and while Gray had a stellar performance and Tracy added a unique skill set given his background as a receiver, Singletary will be the starter. The Giants averaged 26.7 rush attempts per game last season, which was 15th in the league.
The only potential hit to his value I can foresee is Gray and/or Tracy cutting into his receiving upside.
It’s also worth noting that, from Week 8 on last season, Singletary was the RB14 in PPR leagues. I’m starting at Week 8 because Singletary wasn’t receiving many touches before that. He had two games with double-digit carries (12 in Week 6 and 10 in Week 7).
Singletary has a chance to finish as a fringe RB2 due to volume, but keep an eye on Tracy and Gray’s usage over the first few weeks of the season. Singletary is a great pick at his ADP.
