Lions 7-Round Mock Draft: Detroit Bolsters the Trenches and Takes a Flier On a 6’4″, 19-TD WR For Jared Goff

A deep dive into who the Detroit Lions are predicted to take in PFSN's newest 7-round mock draft as the NFL Draft approaches this week.

The Detroit Lions had their best regular season in franchise history in 2024, finishing 15-2. Unfortunately, their season did not end how they wanted it to. After having the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC, they fell at their first task in the divisional round to the Washington Commanders.

The Lions lost both their coordinators to head coaching roles elsewhere and will need to retool their staff and their roster to make a deep run.

They are looking to add a few pieces to solidify their status as the best team in the NFC once again, and this time get them to the Super Bowl. In PFSN’s latest mock draft by Ian Cummings, the Lions are projected to add in the trenches and find Jared Goff a new target.

28) Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia

“Mykel Williams is a tough prospect to project in the 2025 NFL Draft. He could go as early as the teens, or he could fall into the late first round. If he does, the Detroit Lions could be an eager suitor. Williams fits the identity of the defense to a tee, and the arrow is pointing up.

Williams isn’t a refined pass-rush threat, but he’s an exciting developmental EDGE opposite Aidan Hutchinson, with the elite power element to complement Hutchinson’s finesse and motor. And Williams provides a high floor as a run support and contain defender.”

The Lions will be ecstatic to have Hutchinson back from his injury, and adding a good run defender in Williams with high pass rushing upside will make the Lions pass rush extremely dangerous.

60) Wyatt Milum, OG, West Virginia

“Wyatt Milum just feels like a Detroit Lion with his nail-eating play style and overwhelming torque output. He’ll set the tone and shore up Detroit’s interior on Day 1.”

The Lions’ offensive line is one of the best in the NFL, finishing 5th in PFSN’s OL+ metric. The Lions did have some struggles in spurts throughout last season. Milum would provide another body to have an instant impact in the trenches.

102) Jacob Parrish, CB, Kansas State

“The Lions need a cornerback who can play nickel when Brian Branch takes split-field reps. Jacob Parrish can not only fill but thrive in that role with his quickness and tenacity.”

The Lions added D.J. Reed to their secondary in the offseason, and Parrish would provide more depth to an already improved secondary.

130) Que Robinson, EDGE, Alabama

Que Robinson is an athletic edge rusher with a quick get-off. However, there are concerns about his ability to defend against the run as well as his size against stronger offensive linemen.

Robinson has the potential to become a dynamic pass-rushing specialist, which can complement the skills of Williams if the Lions decide to draft both.

196) Andrew Armstrong, WR, Arkansas

Andrew Armstrong is a receiver out of Arkansas who logged two 1,000+ yard seasons in his three years as a Razorback. The Lions have two dynamic receivers in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, along with a veteran in Tim Patrick.

Armstrong will be a depth piece for Detroit, offering another weapon at Goff’s disposal.

228) Cam Horsley, DT, Boston College

Cam Horsley was named to the All-ACC Third Team in 2024. He is a good run defender and doesn’t offer too much in the pass rush. He had 0 sacks in 2024 for Boston College, but racked up 42 tackles and seven tackles for loss.

Horsley will just be another body in the trenches to rotate in on rushing downs, if the starters need a rest.

244) Rayuan Lane III, S, Navy

Rayuan Lane III can be an impactful player on the backend of a defense with good tackling ability and a knack for forcing turnovers. He had 70 tackles, forced three fumbles, and had two interceptions in 2024.

Lane could carve out a role as the backup to the Lions’ starting safeties, Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch, and make an impact on special teams with his strong tackling ability.
