Fans are counting down the days to Colorado’s April 4 pro day, and one big reason for the buzz is the friendly bet between Deion Sanders and his second-oldest son, Shilo Sanders.
Shilo wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine in February, and he’s been grinding ever since to catch the eyes of scouts — especially with a fast 40-yard dash. Coach Prime challenged him to hit 4.40, and if he does that on Friday, there might be a new car waiting for him.

40-Yard Dash Bet Between Deion Sanders, Shilo Sanders
According to NFL Draft Buzz, Shilo’s best 40-yard dash time is 4.54. But after getting snubbed from the Combine, he’s been working and has reportedly improved that time.
In a viral video from March 2025, Colorado strength and conditioning coach Andreu Swasey is watching Shilo train, saying, “That was your best start ever, dude!” The video doesn’t reveal an official time, but Shilo makes it clear how motivated he is: “I didn’t get invited to the combine, but I brought the combine to me.”
As the 25-year-old keeps pushing toward his goal, Deion recently showed up at one of his training sessions. After joking about Deion’s legendary 4.27 40-yard dash from 1989, Shilo told his dad he could hit 4.40 at the pro day.
Deion seemed interested and asked, “You say 4.40?” When Shilo confirmed it, Coach Prime upped the stakes:
“You run a 4.4, I’ll buy you a new car.”
Shilo Sanders says Coach Prime will get him a new whip if he runs a 4.4 40 yard dash at Colorado’s pro day.

Some people might see the moment as another example of the Sanders kids being spoiled, but there’s something genuine in the exchange. You can see Deion’s face change when Shilo says he’s going for it — the fun stops, and it gets real.
Deion likes to joke with his sons, but he flips the switch when one of them sets a goal out loud. Some may not love his involvement in their careers, but there’s no denying he’s been all-in for them.
We’ll find out Friday if Shilo earns that car. Colorado’s pro day will also include Deion’s youngest son, Shedeur, along with top names like Travis Hunter, LaVonta Bentley, Shane Cokes, and Jimmy Horn Jr.
