Deion Sanders is a legend in the sports world. He’s done it all — from starring in both the NFL and MLB to becoming a fan favorite wherever he went. These days, he’s shaking things up in college football as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.
While Sanders is doing big things on the sideline, he’s also playing another role — dad to two of Colorado’s key players. His sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, were standouts on the field and are now headed to the NFL Draft. And when it comes to their journey, there’s no better person to hear from than Coach Prime himself.

Deion Sanders on Shilo and Shedeur Sanders’ Training
Right now, both Sanders brothers are expected to be in the NFL next season. Shedeur is widely viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft class and is a near-lock for the first round. Shilo, a sixth-year college veteran, has also proven himself as a strong, physical safety.
Deion has played a big role in their development. While speaking to Fox Sports at the Big 12 Pro Day, Sanders explained what makes his sons stand out.
“Shedeur is a winner. Shedeur is very intelligent, very understanding, like, when we used to travel and they were kids — Going to the airport to we in the Atmos club or wherever and we relaxing, we were on the board man.”
The grind didn’t stop — whether it was as a dad or a coach. “I was writing defenses on the board and they were trying to figure out how to beat me and Shilo.” And that’s where Sanders sees their edge.

“So we’ve always been a football-minded family. We’ve always understood what was next, we always rose to the occasion and we always exceeded expectations.” Sanders also had something to say about the pressure his sons may face at the next level.
“Hey, we can handle pressure. We apply pressure, we didn’t receive pressure, we applied it.”
In just two seasons, Sanders and his staff helped turn the Colorado program into a nine-win team — and had a Heisman Trophy winner on the roster. Shilo emerged as a solid presence at safety, finishing with 67 tackles. Shedeur, meanwhile, put up huge numbers. Even with a shaky offensive line, he threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 74% of his passes — a career high.
The latest mock draft from PFSN has the New York Giants taking Shedeur with the No. 3 overall pick. Shilo, on the other hand, is currently projected to fall outside the first three rounds.
Still, Deion’s pride in both sons is clear.
“I can’t wait to see where he goes. I can’t wait to see what he does. I know what he’s gonna do and I can’t wait to see he and Shilo at the next level.”
