Two brothers, two different paths to the NFL. Shilo Sanders fights for a roster spot in Tampa Bay while Shedeur Sanders battles for a starting quarterback job in Cleveland.
But their father, Deion Sanders, isn’t about to let them navigate their rookie seasons alone. Prime Time has a plan to help both sons succeed, and it involves renting a plane to make sure he’s there when they need him most.
Deion Sanders Shares Plans to Help Sons, Shilo and Shedeur, Prepare for Their Rookie Season
Deion Sanders has done a magnificent job of turning around the Colorado Buffaloes. After the program finished just 1-11 the year before he arrived, they were able to improve to 9-4 by his second season.
While many expected him to head to the NFL ranks after his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, finished their collegiate careers in 2024, the Pro and College Football Hall of Famer ultimately decided to remain with the Buffaloes.
However, staying in Colorado doesn’t mean Sanders plans to watch his sons’ NFL careers from a distance, as Coach Prime knows plenty about playing in the NFL. He spent 14 seasons in the league and is widely considered one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time.
During a recent conversation captured on Shilo’s YouTube channel, Prime Time outlined his hands-on approach to supporting both sons. He explained: “I’m going to try my best to rent a plane to come down to see you, then see Shedeur and go to work.”
The conversation then showcased the playful family dynamic, as Shilo jokingly responded, “Alright. And you’re coming to my practice first, so that means I’m your favorite son. Alright, thank you.”
Sanders confirmed his plans while maintaining the lighthearted tone: “I’ll come to your practice first. Definitely come to your practice first.”
Not to be outdone, Shilo repeated: “Yeah, that means I’m the number one son,” prompting his father to remark, “You need to send me the schedule of the times of practice.”
The two brothers face vastly different situations as they begin their professional careers.
Shedeur suffered one of the most shocking draft day slides in recent memory. Initially projected to be a first-round pick in the pre-draft process, he ended up falling to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Meanwhile, Shilo did not hear his name called during the draft. However, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
These different paths create unique pressures for each brother. While Shilo is competing for a roster spot with the Buccaneers, his younger brother, Shedeur, is in the midst of a QB battle to earn the starting role with the Browns, competing with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel for the job.
