Michael Irvin can never be left out of the conversation about Dallas Cowboys legends. The five-time Pro Bowl player and three-time NFL champion is one of the most decorated wide receivers that the sport has ever seen. His ascent to the pros came after a dominant college football career, where he played for the Miami Hurricanes.
The legend was recently invited back to the University of Miami to be inducted into the program’s Ring of Honor. Irvin posted a video of himself on X at the event, and his best friend, Deion Sanders, retweeted it to show him love.
What Is Deion Sanders Celebrating About His Friend Michael Irvin?
The Hurricanes faced the Stanford Cardinal tonight at Hard Rock Stadium. It is a military appreciation game that started by honoring Miami’s own champions, who fought hard and earned the university’s football program its pride. And Irvin’s record is legendary.
In his 33 college football games, Irvin recorded 143 receptions. During a career that lasted three seasons, he had 2,423 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns. Irvin also helped the Hurricanes win one of their five national championships in 1987.
Irvin posted the energy of the stadium on X with the caption, “Ring of Honor @CanesFootball.” Sanders retweeted the video, showing appreciation and respect for his friend.

Coach Prime and Irvin have been best friends for years. They won a Super Bowl together in 1995 while playing for the Cowboys. Irvin has always been a light of positivity in Sanders’ life even during his struggles.
When Coach Prime was suffering from blood clots and bladder cancer, Irvin took to social media to post a hilarious video filled with love and positivity. In it, the Cowboys legend can be heard cracking up as he pans around Sanders’ massive outdoor deck and pool at his Texas estate.
Irvin wrote: “My Bishop always said when your love ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and change [their] frequency. I love you to life and forever my brother Deion Sanders.”
When Sanders went into surgery, he posted an emotional video on YouTube, asking fans to pray for his recovery. Irvin was in tears in the video, saying, “I need you guys to pray for my boy. And you know, he will be okay. Because God has him. But I do need you to pray for him, and pray for his strength.”
Sanders joined the Cowboys in 1995 and played through 1999, and Irvin played for the Cowboys from 1988 to 1999. When Playmaker retired from the NFL, Prime Time joined the Washington Redskins (now Commanders). Seeing them be there for each other in times of despair and happiness has always been a treat.
