Justin Herbert is one of the most polarizing players in the 2020 NFL draft class. Let’s address the elephant in the room, many draft analysts have been waiting for Justin Herbert to have that Hallmark moment and it hasn’t come. The knock-on Herbert is that he cannot win the big game and his game hasn’t paralleled his elite traits. Maybe that is the case, but it is worth noting that despite having a great offensive line, the weapons at Herbert’s disposal is nowhere near the class that Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa have.
Speaking of Tua Tagovailoa, his injury also increases the chance that Herbert could end up a top-5 selection. The Miami Dolphins are almost certain to take a quarterback with the 4th pick in the 2020 NFL draft and they like Herbert a great deal. In fact, Scouts and NFL front offices like Justin Herbert a lot more than Twitter. Why? Herbert has elite tools, including an absolute bazooka of an arm. You can’t teach arm talent and with the arm talent that Herbert possesses, he could flourish in today’s NFL.

If Herbert excels at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, there is a chance he could challenge Joe Burrow for the first overall pick. As I mentioned above, if he is on the board when the Miami Dolphins are on the clock, he is a real possibility. Finally, there are many quarterback-needy teams such as the Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers that could explore trading up if Justin Herbert is still on the board after the Bengals and Dolphins make their picks. With that said, I think there is a very real possibility that we hear Justin Herbert’s name called as a top-five selection in the 2020 NFL draft.
