Free agency has commenced with the beginning of the legal tampering period on Monday at noon. As a result, players have been moving all across the league, and teams are making massive moves. However, former Minnesota Viking pass rusher Danielle Hunter hasn’t signed with anyone just yet. What are some potential landing spots?
Danielle Hunter Free Agency Landing Spots
Hunter spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Vikings, but the two are parting ways heading into 2024. Hunter is a one-time second-team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler. He was a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Hunter Goes to Jacksonville
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Hunter have been rumored to be a pairing dating back to last offseason. Things then heated back up at the deadline, but no trade ever formalized. However, with Hunter now as a free agent, the Jaguars could just sign him themselves without giving up capital.

The only thing is Hunter would likely require a large amount of money. If the Jaguars are to sign him, it would likely signify the end of Josh Allen’s tenure in Jacksonville, potentially leading to a trade, as Allen is on the franchise tag.
Falcons Make Another Big Swing
The Atlanta Falcons have been swinging big this offseason so far. Most notably, they’ve signed wide receiver Darnell Mooney and quarterback Kirk Cousins. Now, it would be time to fix the defensive side of the ball.
In 2023, the Falcons had just 42 sacks, showing why the team needs to add a game-changing pass rusher. Hunter is exactly that guy, having 87.5 sacks in eight seasons with the Vikings. More specifically, he had a career-high 16.5 sacks just last season.
Bears Steal Hunter From Rival
This one would hurt the Vikings the most, but Hunter would be a good fit with the Chicago Bears. In 2023, the Bears had the 2nd fewest sacks in the NFL with 30, only ahead of the Carolina Panthers with 27.

Hunter would immediately start for the Bears, lining up alongside Montez Sweat, who the Bears acquired mid-season in 2023. The Bears’ $57.6 million in available cap space gives them plenty of room to add Hunter and solidify their top two edge rushers for the next few years.
