Daniel Jones Injury Update: Latest on the Colts QB After Scary Moment in Week 14 vs. Jaguars

Already playing with a fractured fibula, things took a brutal turn for Daniel Jones in Week 14 while facing the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And just like that, one of the best starts in recent memory for the Indianapolis Colts may have crumbled to a stop. With Daniel Jones playing on a fractured fibula, the risk was always going to be high for the quarterback to further aggravate his injury.

However, in a pivotal game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the situation took a brutal turn when a non-contact injury to his right leg forced him to exit the game immediately.

What Happened to Daniel Jones?

Amidst a career renaissance with the franchise, Jones was playing some of the best football of his career. As a result, it seemed like the Colts were ready to declare him the franchise quarterback of the future.

However, with a fractured fibula severely limiting him in recent weeks, it was starting to show in his play. But, facing a ferocious defensive line in Week 14, the worst-case scenario came to pass.

With his leg seemingly giving out on a passing attempt, he immediately crumbled to the ground in pain. As he was holding his leg and the blue medical tent was set up, it was clear that things weren’t going to be great for the former New York Giants star.

Jones was later ruled out of the rest of the game due to an Achilles injury. If his injury is as serious as it appears to be, then a spectacular start to the season for the Colts, which prompted them to trade two first-round picks for Sauce Gardner, could go down the drain in an instant.

Already, their lead at the top of the AFC South is crumbling in a hurry, and the playoffs could become a question mark as well, particularly after losing a critical tiebreaker to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the season.

The Impact of Jones’ Injury on Fantasy

Jones’s fantasy value had already taken a hit with him playing on a broken leg, which limited his mobility. But the real problem with a Jones injury is what it means for the rest of this offense.

The Colts have two fantasy-relevant wide receivers and one of the best running backs in football. As great as Jonathan Taylor has been, a Riley Leonard offense is not great for his prospects of being a league winner.

Leonard isn’t incompetent, but this will be a much more run-heavy offense. Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce are undoubtedly due for downgrades. Josh Downs is already droppable.
