The Philadelphia Eagles immediately got back to work after the champagne dried and the confetti landed. Following their Super Bowl 59 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the team immediately focused on their roster, including veteran tight end Dallas Goedert, one of the team’s most trusted leaders.

Dallas Goedert Restructured Contract To Help Out Both Sides
Entering the final year of a four-year, $57 million deal, Goedert has been an essential player in the Eagles’ offense since he was selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, rather than testing the market or negotiating for a new deal, he took a risk and restructured his contract, sacrificing $4 million in salary to remain in Philadelphia.
Why? For Goedert, it wasn’t about the money. “After we won, with the opportunity to run it back again, see the banner drop, it would’ve felt like I’d be missing a whole lot not being there to see all that,” Goedert said at Tight End University in Nashville on NFL Network. “I got a lot of love for the city of Philadelphia. The ownership, all the way to the cooks in the building.”

Goedert’s choice was motivated by his relationship with the team, the supporters, and the opportunity to help win another championship in a league where business frequently comes first.
The revised deal reduces his pay, but in return, he had his remaining $10 million salary fully guaranteed and was provided up to $1 million in incentives. More significantly, it lowers his 2025 cap hit, which benefits both parties. The Eagles maintain a well-respected captain, and Goedert continues to pursue his top goal: another ring.
The 2024 season wasn’t Goedert’s best year, statistically speaking. He finished with 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers fell short of his usual output. However, his value goes beyond the numbers. His blocking, energy, and leadership helped keep the stars around him shining.
Goedert is now focusing on recovering since his future is set for another season. He wants to stay healthy, play more in the passing game, and guide an eager Eagles squad that wants to accomplish something that isn’t often done in the NFL: win consecutive championships.
For Goedert, taking less wasn’t a sacrifice: It was an investment in something bigger than himself. In a city that values grit, loyalty, and heart, few embody their identity better than No. 88 in midnight green.
