Jets Fans Spiral After Justin Fields’ Injury

This morning, news broke that Fields suffered a lower leg injury and had to be carted off the field during Jets training camp practice.

Jets fans are struggling to cope with the news, as the long history of hardships for the fanbase has reached a breaking point.

One fan believes the franchise is cursed after hearing the news.

“We are cursed bro,” he posted on X.

He was not alone. Another fan echoed the same sentiment, saying the Jets are plagued by misfortune.

“This team is literally cursed,” they wrote.

One fan took it a step further, saying that with Fields’ injury, the season is already over.

“Welcome to opening day… and the Season is over. Typical Jets. cursed,” they said.

Another fan, seemingly accustomed to the Jets’ bad luck, expressed support and wished Fields the best.

“We always have bad luck. Hope he’s okay,” the fan posted.

One fan was so blindsided by the news that he refused to believe it was real.

“This can’t be real life,” the fan wrote.

It’s easy to see why Jets fans feel this way. Since the 2011-2012 season, the franchise has missed the playoffs 14 straight years. During that time, they’ve entered the season with seven different starting quarterbacks and missed on two top-three draft picks in Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson.

In 2023, the Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers, hoping he would be the team’s savior. Instead, Rodgers tore his Achilles in the first game of the 2023-2024 season. After a mediocre performance last year, his time in New York came to an end.

This offseason, the team signed Justin Fields, the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, to a two-year, $40 million deal. Now, Fields has suffered an injury during training camp.

Things could not get much worse for the fanbase. If Fields’ injury is severe, the Jets will likely miss the playoffs again this season.

#Update: Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has confirmed that the quarterback suffered a toe injury. It happened after another player stepped on Fields’ toe, and the injury is no longer considered significant. The Jets have announced that Fields has a dislocated toe on his right foot and is considered day-to-day.
