The Arizona Cardinals are going through a period of intense tension with quarterback Kyler Murray, with the latest reports indicating growing frustration on the player’s part with the franchise, particularly over the management’s preference for a trade to reduce financial losses.
However, the possibility of the Cardinals giving up Murray’s talent is provoking a strong reaction on social media against the franchise’s management, and one of the most vocal voices on the subject is Hall of Fame WR Cris Carter.
Arizona Cardinals Should Handle Kyler Murray Situation Better
In an interview on Thursday (via Kyle Odegard), the Carter slammed the Cardinals’ management, also indicating that this is not a recent problem by pointing out that Larry Fitzgerald was “lucky” not to have his career “ruined” by the Cardinals.
Cris Carter unloaded on the Cardinals. He said Larry Fitzgerald was lucky his career wasn’t ruined by playing in AZ.

“I’m gonna tell you something that you’ve never heard before about the Arizona Cardinals. They have one of the worst ownership groups. They do not know what they’re doing, and I couldn’t say this for a long time because my kid was playing out there Fitzgerald,” said Hall of Famer.
“But now he’s first ballot Hall of Famer now I can let go they’re awful. The way they do things is awful. He was lucky to survive his career there, but Arizona I. Think when Kurt Warner went into the Hall of Fame. They offered him. The bid Wells jet you can take the jet to Canton and come back. That’s it. That’s it bad, bro sad.”
Murray’s entire circle of representatives indicates that the athlete wants to be released, allowing him to explore the free-agent market and choose his next destination.
On the other hand, this impasse is fueled at a time when several analysts question the QB’s leadership abilities, and his agility has been permanently compromised by serious knee and foot injuries.
Murray, who ranks No. 21 in the PFSN QB Impact metric with a C grade, signed a massive $230.5 million contract extension in 2022 (via Spotrac). If the Cardinals cut him before June 1, the team will have to pay a dead cap penalty of about $54.7 million, which would weigh absurdly on the payroll.
A trade would be more advantageous for the Cardinals at this point, saving approximately $34.7 million in salary cap space, but finding a team willing to take on the contract of an injured QB is a major challenge.
If he is traded or released, teams in need of a QB and operating systems that favor mobile players would naturally be the most interesting destinations for Murray to continue his career. Given this scenario, teams such as the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, or Atlanta Falcons emerge as the main possibilities.
