The 2024 NFL season was a dramatic and disappointing campaign for both wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise finished with a 7-10 losing record in the NFC East and missed out on the playoffs. The Cowboys’ WR suffered an injury and saw a decline in his performance from the previous year.
However, Lamb’s contract holdout in 2024 remained the most talked-about segment for the Cowboys’ last season. The 26-year-old reflected on the situation in his latest YouTube video.
CeeDee Lamb Opens Up About Contract Holdout With the Cowboys in 2024
Lamb struggled with an AC joint injury for most of the 2024 season. He suffered a blow and started experiencing pain in his right shoulder during the Week 9 clash against the Atlanta Falcons.
He charted 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns for the Cowboys last season before his season ended in the Week 16 fixture against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lamb is set to attend OTAs and minicamps this offseason, but it wasn’t the same story last year.
The four-time Pro Bowler missed all of training camps and mandatory minicamp in the 2024 offseason. The Cowboys and Lamb found a middle ground with less than two weeks left for the season opener. The wide receiver inked a four-year deal worth $135 million with the franchise.
Lamb posted a recap of his 2024 season on his YouTube channel. He talked about missing the offseason practice sessions and how it might have impacted his performance last year.
“Honestly, it was the worst,” Lamb said. “It was the worst ever. Do you hear me? For those who know me, they know how serious I take this football stuff. Like, with everything in me. I put pride, body, mind, soul, everything I got into winning and the result of it.”
“And obviously, preparation that goes into it, you know?” Lamb continued. “And for me to miss out on the right preparation with my team, my quarterback, my guys, just building those bonds off the field, whatever the case may be, you know what I’m saying? Like, I missed out on that.”
He added that no matter how good the weather was in Miami, it was in nothing in comparison to being with his squad. Lamb went on to admit that he would not like to go through the same situation ever again.
“It was a unique situation,” Lamb said. “That was the first time I ever did that, and I’m praying it’s the last. It should be.”
That 2023 season, of course, was his best yet. He posted career highs in catches (135), receiving yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12), earning First-Team All-Pro honors and cementing his status as one of the NFL’s elite wideouts.
