Trading Micah Parsons before the 2025 season caused many problems for the Dallas Cowboys. Without the superstar pass rusher, the defense struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks, allowing an average of 30.1 points per game, the highest in the league. Rebuilding the unit is a priority during the offseason.
Dallas Cowboys Predicted As Landing Spot for Haason Reddick in Free Agency
The Cowboys will have to add many pieces to their defense. There are too many holes, and along with improving the starting unit, adding depth should also be high on their list of priorities. Haason Reddick could be one of those cheaper pieces. He’s No. 34 in PFSN’s Top 100 free agents, with Dallas as a possible landing spot.
“Haason Reddick has now entered pass-rushing mercenary territory, having played for five teams in the last six years. In 2025, he totaled 2.5 sacks and 32 pressures in 13 games for the Buccaneers. It’s unlikely at this point that Reddick returns to the Pro Bowl form he had with Philadelphia. That said, among the 123 edge rushers qualified for EDGEi scoring, he still ended the year above average, ranking No. 36.”
Reddick’s impact in 2025 was far from his best years. His 2.5 sacks in 13 games were unimpressive, but he wouldn’t be expected to lead the pass-rushing group for Dallas. From 2020 to 2023, he had four straight seasons with double-digit sacks, and the Cowboys could use him as a rotational player, especially on third downs.
The Cowboys had just 35 sacks in 2025, one of the lowest marks in the league. Parsons’s absence was keenly felt: their best pass rusher on the season was Jadeveon Clowney, who had 8.5 sacks and ranked No. 27 in PFSN EDGE Impact Metric. The rest of the group was unproductive.
After a difficult start to his career with the Arizona Cardinals, Reddick’s fortunes improved when he moved from off-ball linebacker to edge rusher in 2020, his final season with the team. He also had success with the Carolina Panthers before two excellent seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a Super Bowl appearance following the 2022 season.
A contract dispute with the New York Jets in 2024 caused him to miss most of the offseason and the beginning of the regular season, playing in just 10 games with the team. He signed with the Buccaneers as a free agent in 2025, and he’s unlikely to extend his contract after his production.
The Cowboys have a new defensive coordinator in Christian Parker, and the hope is that he’ll do a better job than Matt Eberflus in 2025. Adding pieces is a must. Reddick as a depth option for the EDGE group is a good start.
