The Dallas Cowboys’ disastrous 2024 has led them to select 12th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite the 7-10 record and playoff absence, Dallas has a strong roster with minimal holes.
If they hope to contend anytime soon, finding a running mate for CeeDee Lamb may be top priority. With Travis Hunter likely gone by the time the Cowboys pick, they will have a handful of equally valued wideouts to choose from (if they intend to go WR here). The shortlist of receivers includes Matthew Golden, Emeka Egbuka, Luther Burden III, and Tetairoa McMillan.
Cowboys Linked to Star WR in 2025 NFL Draft
In PFSN’s latest seven-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Jacob Infante sees the Cowboys decide on the 6’4″ Arizona product.
“With Jeanty off the board, the Dallas Cowboys shift their focus to another offensive playmaker. CeeDee Lamb hasn’t had a true No. 2 wide receiver since the team traded Amari Cooper,” Infante said.
“Tetairoa McMillan is a big receiver with strong hands and ball skills. He’s fluid for his size and creates separation with his physical traits.”
McMillan is coming off back-to-back 1,300+ receiving yard campaigns with the Wildcats. Nabbing 174 balls over 2023-24, the big target proved his durability. During that time, McMillan went for 18 total touchdowns (adding eight more in his opening season). The Waimanalo, Hawaii, native also averaged over 15 yards per grab across his entire collegiate career.
With several teams ahead of Dallas also in the receiver market, McMillan could go anywhere. Potential suitors for the 219-pounder inside the top 10 include the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots.
Is Dallas’ Biggest Need at WR or Elsewhere?
Predicting the Cowboys’ selection at No. 12 is as difficult as they come. With needs at running back, EDGE, cornerback, and the obvious wide receiver, a handful of players could fit the mold for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys brass.
In this mock draft, we obviously see players such as Jeanty, Hunter, cornerback Will Johnson, and edge rusher Abdul Carter come off the board before Dallas chooses. This leaves the Cowboys with McMillan and Golden, along with others such as edge rushers Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams and running back Omarion Hampton.
Luckily for the Jones and the Cowboys, this draft appears to be deep at nearly all their positional needs. It will be up to management to value each position and weigh what must serve as a priority.
The Cowboys, along with the rest of the NFL, will make their decisions as things kick off from Green Bay, Wis., on Thursday, April 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
