The Dallas Cowboys have a lot at stake entering the 2025 NFL season. After a disaster of a 2024 campaign, the enormous price of the roster, particularly Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, alongside the massive haul they gave up for George Pickens, means the hopes for this season are high.
However, the defense needs some work. Typically their strong point, the Cowboys’ defensive unit struggled last year, and now their secondary is even weaker entering the 2025 season, with Trevon Diggs set to miss time early in the season. One analyst predicts the Cowboys would address this weakness by signing free agent cornerback Kendall Fuller.
Cowboys Predicted To Sign Kendall Fuller
The Cowboys arguably boast one of the league’s best cornerback duos with Diggs and DaRon Bland. Besides First Team All-Pro selections, they have also been highly disruptive ball hawks at different points in their career. However, because of injuries, the two played only one game together last season.
Now, with Bland in a contract year, it’s questionable if we’ll see him in a Cowboys uniform for much longer. With no other capable starter on the roster, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton predicts the Cowboys could look to sign Fuller, who was released after just one season by the Miami Dolphins.
“The Cowboys’ secondary could have a rocky start to the upcoming season,” Moton wrote. “Team executive vice president Stephen Jones said, ‘There’s a good chance’ cornerback Trevon Diggs misses the beginning of the campaign as he recovers from knee surgery. Rookie third-rounder Shavon Revel Jr. is working his way back from a torn ACL. Dallas lost slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis in free agency.”
“Dallas can bring in Fuller to shore up its pass coverage. He can line up outside to fill in for Diggs and transition into the slot if none of the young defensive backs impress in nickel duties. The 30-year-old has extensive experience playing on the boundary and as a nickelback.”
Fuller signed a two-year, $15 million deal with the Dolphins last season and was named the starting cornerback alongside Jalen Ramsey. The former was, however, limited to 11 games, during which he recorded 50 tackles, seven pass deflections, and one fumble recovery before being released in February.

The 30-year-old was a third-round pick by Washington out of Virginia Tech in 2016. He has recorded 536 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 16 interceptions, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns, including a game-winning interception for the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
Fuller would provide a solid stop-gap in the secondary for the Cowboys until it gets back to full strength. The price would be something Dallas would want to be lower since they have got a big number to pay to Micah Parsons.
