After an MVP-caliber season from quarterback Dak Prescott and a 12-5 record in 2023, the Dallas Cowboys struggled mightily last year.
The Cowboys finished the 2024 campaign ranked third in the NFC East with a 7-10 record, trailing the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the NFC Championship-appearing Washington Commanders. To keep up with two of the best teams in the conference, Dallas’ front office will need to add star power wherever it can find it.
One promising move could be pairing Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb with another standout wide receiver — three-time Pro Bowler Tyler Lockett — in hopes Prescott can return to his MVP-caliber form next season.

Cowboys Predicted To Sign Tyler Lockett
Dallas’ passing game struggled last season, finishing 21st in scoring. Much of that came down to a lack of reliable options outside of Lamb. Jalen Tolbert was the team’s second-leading receiver with just 610 yards, followed by KaVontae Turpin with 420.
The Cowboys could go after a receiver in the NFL Draft, but if they view Lockett as a solid short-term fix that allows them to focus on other needs — and with an owner who’s always in win-now mode — it might be worth it.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report predicts Dallas will sign the veteran, writing, “The Dallas Cowboys have their No. 1 receiver in CeeDee Lamb, but they still lack a quality second option—adding Parris Campbell in free agency didn’t solve the problem.
“Tyler Lockett, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, should be a top target for Dallas ahead of the draft. The 32-year-old caught 49 passes for 600 yards as Seattle’s third receiver last season and has experience playing under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.”
For 10 straight seasons after being selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Lockett was a consistent presence in Seattle’s passing game. He leaves the Seahawks ranked second in franchise history in receptions (661) and receiving yards (8,594), trailing only Hall of Famer Steve Largent in both.
His 65 career touchdown catches rank him fourth in franchise history behind Shaun Alexander, Largent, and just one behind Marshawn Lynch (66).
Beyond the stats, Lockett was the heartbeat of the Seahawks’ offense. His chemistry with Russell Wilson was crucial to Seattle’s air attack for years, and when Geno Smith took over, Lockett quickly became his most trusted target.
Now, Lockett could do the same for Prescott in Dallas. Paired with Lamb, the Cowboys could field a dangerous receiving duo in the 2025 season.
In PFSN’s list of top landing spots for Lockett, the Cowboys were one of five teams named as fits for the veteran wideout. The others included the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and the Houston Texans.
