The Dallas Cowboys may have entered the 2025 NFL Draft with major offensive needs but they made the most of Day 2 by securing two defensive players of tremendous value. While the front office made strong moves, it was owner Jerry Jones who stole the show Friday night with a viral dance move after selecting East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.
Jerry Jones Celebrates Shavon Revel Jr. Pick with Viral Trump-Style Dance
Jones’ celebration quickly lit up social media, drawing comparisons to former President Donald Trump’s well-known shimmy. Captured live on ESPN’s broadcast, Jones broke into a light, shoulder-shimmying dance after the Cowboys selected Revel with the 76th overall pick, a player projected by many to go much earlier.

The Cowboys’ pick of Revel Jr. represented fantastic value. Yahoo Sports analyst Nate Tice had the 24-year-old ranked No. 24 on his big board, a clear first-round talent who unexpectedly slid deep into the third round. Filling a crucial need after the free agency loss of Jourdan Lewis, Revel Jr.’s arrival brings both immediate reinforcement and future upside to Dallas’ secondary.
Adding to their strong night, Dallas had earlier selected Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku with the 44th overall pick. Ezeiruaku, ranked No. 31 by Tice, was also viewed as a possible late first-rounder. Both selections reinforced the Cowboys’ defensive depth, even though glaring needs at wide receiver and running back remained unaddressed through the first three rounds.
During the post-draft news conference, Jones was asked whether his viral dance was inspired more by Revel Jr.’s selection or by the draft class overall.
“Well, a little bit of all of it,” the 82-year-old replied. “Certainly, we were pleased to get Shavon. Had such a great appreciation for how hard he works, his story and we really had a need there, potentially, with our injury situation at our corners. Plus, he brings something to the table if they weren’t injured as far as making our secondary what we want it to be.”
Jones also praised the broader evaluation of Revel Jr., mentioning respected opinions in the football community.
“I was listening and they were talking about what he was as a player. I was listening to [Nick] Saban talk about what he was as a player and how much he appreciated him, but again, all of that came together right there throughout him,” Jones said.
While questions remain about Dallas’ offensive depth behind CeeDee Lamb, patience and a focus on value allowed the Cowboys to turn Day 2 into a significant success. With Jerry Jones’ viral celebration now a lasting image, the franchise hopes the moves on the field will be just as memorable.
