Dak Prescott is at the center of the rising pressure surrounding the Dallas Cowboys as they prepare for training camp. After a serious hamstring injury that cut short his 2024 season in Week 9, the veteran quarterback is focused on more than just his health this season.
Hamstring Injury Ends 2024 Season for Dak Prescott, Former Teammate Gives Advice
Prescott needs to demonstrate he can still be the pivotal player for a team surrounded by up-and-coming division opponents and that has just watched the arch-rival Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl.
One voice cut through with raw honesty and loyalty amid the noise: former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
“I pray Dak avoids distractions as much as possible,” Bryant wrote in a powerful message on social media. “But at the same time, it’s f*** the political s*** and see everything for what it is. Outside of myself, I don’t know who handles adversity better than 4.”
Bryant has always worn his heart on his sleeve, and this time was no different. He knows what it’s like to deal with the spotlight, the expectations, and the weight that comes with being a face of the Dallas Cowboys. He also knows Prescott, and the mental strength that’s carried him through injury after injury, criticism after criticism.

“It’s a tough task being the QB for the Dallas Cowboys,” Bryant continued. “He’ll lock in like I know he will. Dak will reach his goal.”
Bryant and Prescott shared real chemistry during their time together. The star receiver recorded 119 catches over 1,600 yards, and 14 touchdowns in 29 games with Prescott as his quarterback. But beyond the stats, they built a bond. That connection, that trust, is still there.
“This season has to be one of those where he treats the highs like the lows and the lows like the highs,” Bryant added. “If you see this message Dak, 4th round, 135th pick Dak gotta enter the chat.”
Motivation and Belief in Prescott, Pressure High in Dallas
It serves as a reminder, as well as a motivational saying. It reminds us of Prescott’s origins, how he wasn’t meant to be the main attraction, how he overcame all obstacles to become the franchise’s spokesperson, and how, despite the intensity of the spotlight, he still has that underdog mentality.
This season is crucial for the Cowboys. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer brings about change, and the division is becoming increasingly difficult. However, Bryant’s remarks hint at something more important: faith in Prescott.
Perhaps that is all Prescott needs, someone who accepts him for who he truly is, namely, a fighter and leader for a team that’s always in the spotlight.
