Dez Bryant Defends Shedeur Sanders Amid Backlash Over Rolls-Royce Rumors

Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant publicly supported Shedeur Sanders after online backlash erupted over a report that the Cleveland Browns quarterback purchased a Rolls-Royce. Bryant posted on X:

“Quit the lies and let Shedeur play football.. this s**t crazy.”

The narrative began circulating after a video surfaced featuring a custom olive green Rolls-Royce with Cleveland orange accents. The car appeared in a vlog by Sanders’ older brother, Deion Sanders Jr., which also showed the former on FaceTime. This fueled speculation that the 23-year-old had purchased the car post-draft. However, the player himself never confirmed ownership.

The situation escalated when people online claimed the car was worth $500,000. In reality, the estimated value is closer to $300,000. According to Sports Illustrated, it clarified that Shedeur Sanders already owned a Rolls-Royce from his college days in Colorado, wrapped in black and gold. His father, Deion Sanders, labeled the new car reports as false, writing simply: “LIES!”

However, the speculation persisted. Many critics linked the supposed car purchase to his draft slide and rookie contract, suggesting irresponsible spending. However, Sanders had previously lived a high-profile lifestyle, which is evident in his flashy draft party that featured a case filled with $1 million in cash and a custom chain.

On the field, Sanders is making headlines for the right reasons. He’s part of the quarterback competition in Cleveland, battling for the starting role alongside Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett. Deshaun Watson, also on the roster, is unlikely to play next season due to an Achilles injury. Reports from the rookie minicamp were mixed, with some praising Sanders’ dominance and others favoring Gabriel.

The 23-year-old agreed to a four-year rookie deal with the Browns worth $4.6 million, which includes a signing bonus of $447,380. Had Sanders been drafted second overall, he could have earned nearly $42 million more. Still, Sanders remains focused. In a media session, the quarterback said:

“My job here isn’t to prove people wrong, I prove myself right… it really doesn’t do anything for me.”

Now wearing jersey No. 12 instead of his college No. 2, Sanders joked about not trying to buy the number from teammate DeAndre Carter, saying:

“I’m not tryna buy anything. My signing bonus ain’t that high right now.”

Despite the noise, Sanders remains unbothered, and Dez Bryant has made it clear he won’t tolerate the ongoing hate.
