Former Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant Finds Humor in Aaron Rodgers Signing

If anyone knows locker room drama, it’s Bryant. For nine seasons, he suited up with the Cowboys before ending his playing career with a short stint on the Baltimore Ravens. Never one to stay silent, Bryant often found himself in the middle of the commotion.

Now retired, he takes to social media to stir the pot and provide insight into various topics.
When news leaked that Rodgers signed with the Steelers, a wave of mixed reactions hit the timeline. First, the Steelers needed a quarterback to run their offense. Advancing age or not, Rodgers can still play. Last season with the New York Jets, he threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Granted, his 63% completion percentage wasn’t stellar. But when your teammates drop 39 passes, the stats are bound to take a hit. Bryant’s comment was a response to a tweet about locker room chemistry.

“You said it.”

A user on X questioned why the Steelers would trade away wideout George Pickens—a perceived troublemaker—and then sign Rodgers, who’s known for his acerbic wit and controversial stances.

For example, in 2021, when asked if he received the COVID-19 vaccine, Rodgers played word games instead of giving a straight answer. He tried to hide the fact that he wasn’t vaccinated. Since then, his embrace of conspiracy theories has rubbed people the wrong way.

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback DeShone Kizer claimed that Rodgers once suggested the September 11, 2001, terror attacks either didn’t happen or were an inside job. Kizer brought this up in a 2022 episode of the “Adam Breneman Podcast.”

When your franchise quarterback goes on talk shows spouting off unchecked, it naturally raises questions inside the locker room. Meanwhile, what public meltdowns has Pickens had? Sure, his play sometimes comes off as overly aggressive or lazy, but he’s never been the face of the franchise.

Whether Rodgers pans out or not in Pittsburgh, current and former players alike will be watching to see if the Steelers practice what they preach. Can the legendary quarterback just focus on football and keep the drama out of the locker room?
