What Is Troy Aikman’s Secret to Anti-Aging?

Known for his candor and polished delivery on air, Troy Aikman sat down with “Front Office Sports” to discuss everything from criticism over his commentary to his surprisingly rigorous personal wellness habits.

When asked about what some perceive as his “anti-aging witchcraft,” Aikman insisted there is nothing magical about his regimen, just discipline and a commitment to fitness. He explained that working out has been a constant for him since his playing days, but in the last few years, he has taken a deeper interest in health.

“In the last, I guess, five years I’ve gotten really into health and wellness and biohacking,” he said. “I drink tons of water, do the hyperbaric and sauna and cold plunge, red light therapy, I do that every day, intermittent fasting. And then I started doing yoga about two years ago, extremely hot yoga, it’s brutal.”

He began practicing yoga to improve flexibility after feeling “a little stiff” with age. The sessions take place in 100-degree, infrared-heated rooms. During the offseason, he attends three times a week, scaling back to twice weekly during the NFL season. While the physical benefits, like improved joint mobility and flexibility, were his initial motivation, Aikman said the practice has also given him unexpected mental clarity.

In addition to his physical routine, meditation, which he has practiced for nearly 15 years, remains a daily anchor for him. Clean eating is another priority, although Aikman acknowledged that maintaining strict nutritional habits becomes more challenging while traveling for work.

“It’s a little harder just because you don’t see what’s going on in the kitchen and all that. But, typically at home, I will only eat grass-fed beef and pasture-raised chicken and eggs and things like that,” he explained. “While I had a few chicken tenders last night, I typically don’t eat fried foods and any of that type of stuff.”

Taken together, Aikman’s combination of training, biohacking therapies, disciplined meditation, and careful eating forms a comprehensive wellness strategy. This approach allows him to stay sharp and maintain his health long after his playing career has ended.
