Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Fires Shots at Micah Parsons Over 3-Time All-Pro’s Viral Moment From Dallas’ Preseason Finale

It didn’t take long for Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones to take a dig at Micah Parsons after trading him.

Once it came to pass, it was inevitable that Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones would take shots at his former superstar, Micah Parsons. During contract negotiations, Jones had questioned Parsons’ availability and his popularity within the fan base. Now, with no obligations toward him, Jones was unleashed.

Just hours removed from a league-altering trade with the Green Bay Packers, Jones hosted a press conference to justify the move that sent away a potential future Hall of Famer. While he began with complimentary remarks, the owner of one of the most storied franchises in American sports still took digs at Parsons, particularly about his preseason behavior.

Jerry Jones Fires Shots at Micah Parsons After Trading Him to Green Bay

Early in his remarks, Jones praised the four-time Pro Bowler, acknowledging his contributions to the organization. He claimed the trade stemmed from differences over contract value and structure.

But as the evening wore on, slip-ups revealed the larger picture. Perhaps the most notable moment came when Jones repeatedly referred to Parsons as “Michael” instead of his actual name.

The jabs did not stop there. Jones went further, referencing a preseason incident that had gone viral on social media.

With negotiations dragging through much of the offseason, an extension had grown increasingly unlikely by the time preseason arrived. Jones’s remarks about Parsons’s health, popularity, and agent only added fuel to the fire.

Parsons, a three-time All-Pro, made a dramatic gesture of lying flat on a table on the sideline during a preseason game, something cameras quickly captured.

The episode became another installment in the Cowboys’ ongoing drama. Jones, it seems, had not forgotten. Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network caught his pointed comments.

“I didn’t see it. I saw pictures of that. Those aren’t ways that you handle being a player in a team concept and the sharpness and paying attention,” Jones said. He then compared the risks to a hit wide receiver CeeDee Lamb sustained.

“Ask Booker, and you can get your butt run over down there if you don’t look at what’s going on out on the field. Lost Booker because of it.” To his comments, Garofolo added, “I think he means CeeDee getting run over by the official.”

Jones’ exact intentions may be difficult to pin down, but the overwhelming sentiment after the trade was that the move was a disaster for the Cowboys.
