In recent years, professional athletes have become targets for organized burglary rings, with criminals taking advantage of the stretches when players are away from their homes.
Unfortunately, Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb became the latest high-profile athlete to be targeted. Lamb’s home was reportedly burglarized while he was in Oxnard, California, attending the Cowboys’ training camp, leaving Cowboys fans concerned about the star wide receiver.

The Cowboys spent almost a month in Southern California for training camp, beginning on July 27 and continuing through Friday. With many players staying in Oxnard during that period, their residences elsewhere were left unattended for extended periods.
Lamb’s home was reportedly targeted during his absence, with property valued at more than $300,000 stolen from the residence. The stolen belongings reportedly included four luxury bags.
News of the burglary quickly prompted concern among Cowboys fans on social media, with many expressing frustration and sympathy for the star receiver.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the burglary took place between midnight and 3 a.m. on July 30. The burglar allegedly gained entry to the property through a broken window.
A worker at Lamb’s residence discovered the damaged window the following day. After inspecting the property and realizing that someone had apparently entered the home, the worker reported the incident.

However, records from the Fairview Police Department indicate that no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the burglary at Lamb’s home.

Lamb’s situation also makes him the second known Cowboys player to have his property burglarized in recent years. Former defensive tackle Linval Joseph was previously targeted when his home in Sunfish Lake, Minnesota, was burglarized in November 2024.
The issue extends well beyond Dallas, as several other prominent NFL players have also been victims of similar crimes in recent years.
Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders have all had their homes targeted at various points.
The NFL has already taken notice of the growing threat. The league issued a security alert to team security directors and the players’ union, warning about organized and experienced criminals increasingly targeting professional athletes’ residences.
