Their parting was not amicable, and reuniting as opponents in Week 4 won’t be either. Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers visit Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys for Sunday Night Football in one of the most anticipated games of the young season.
After an acrimonious contract dispute, one controversial trade that shocked the sports world, and intransigency in the face of withering criticism from fans and numerous media members, Jones is adamant that he did the right thing. That includes how he’s treating Parsons’ return to Dallas.
How is Jerry Jones Disrespecting Micah Parsons?
Jones has added some fuel to the fire by making it clear, in no uncertain terms, that he will not welcome Parsons back to Dallas with any grand fanfare.
Clarence Hill Jr posted on social media, “Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will not have a video tribute for Micah Parsons on Sunday. ‘It’s not appropriate,’ Jones said.”

It could be perceived that Jones is opting to snub Parsons by not giving fans a tribute video of him, but Jones sees things differently.
“I don’t think that’s appropriate this way. Emmitt was a different story,” Jones said. “But that’s not to diminish Micah. But I think Micah’s got enough ‘welcome,’ out there, and we just need to show we’ve got antidotes for that.”
Doesn’t sound like there will be a welcome back video for Micah Parsons like the Cowboys had for Ezekiel Elliott in 2023 or noting the return of Emmitt Smith in 2003.

Jones did not mention in his comments the tribute that the Cowboys paid Ezekiel Elliot when he returned to Dallas as a member of the New England Patriots in 2023.
The competitive juices will flow, but the Cowboys will enter the game at a decided disadvantage. Superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is unlikely to play after suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter of the Cowboys’ 31-14 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3.
Micah Parsons is likely to get a rousing welcome from Dallas fans who are still shocked that he’s gone. Not too long ago, Parsons was locked in a public stare-down with Jones that most observers thought would end with Jerry winking, smiling, and signing a very large check. Instead, Parsons was sent packing to Green Bay, where he is considered the final piece of the puzzle for a Super Bowl contender.
Instead of wreaking havoc on behalf of the Cowboys, Parsons will be coming after his former teammates and probably with a bit of extra juice, considering how he was shown the door.
Adding fuel to his fire is Parsons’ consistent contention that Jones refused to negotiate with him in good faith. Jones has repeatedly said he had a handshake agreement with Parsons, while Parsons insisted that Jones negotiate with his agent.
Now, both sides will likely say there’s no personal animus, but fans will get to see all of the pent-up energy built up between Parsons and the Cowboys play out on the field.
