The Dallas Cowboys have made several moves this offseason aimed at reshaping key parts of their roster. From a solid draft class to notable additions in free agency, the team appears to be preparing for a deeper playoff run. Yet one area remains the subject of debate and fan speculation.
Dez Bryant Pushes Dallas Cowboys To Sign Veteran RB Nick Chubb
Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant recently stirred conversation on social media when a fan asked if he could contact the Dallas front office about signing Nick Chubb.
Bryant replied directly: “You know what.. I’m about to text him and ask him.” That short response brought fresh attention to the idea of adding the veteran back to an already crowded running back room.
While Dallas addressed several roster needs in the 2025 NFL Draft, the team passed on selecting a wide receiver and waited until Day 3 to add to the backfield. The Cowboys picked Jaydon Blue in the fifth round and Phil Mafah in the seventh, but questions remain about whether either rookie is ready to carry a significant load.
Meanwhile, Chubb’s situation has shifted. The Browns drafted two running backs—one in the second round and another in the fourth—signaling a likely move away from the four-time Pro Bowler. Chubb missed most of the 2023 season with a serious knee injury but has since returned to training, posting clips of his workouts. An article by The Landry Hat noted, “It is hard to question Chubb’s health after watching those clips.”

Between 2018 and 2022, Chubb averaged 1,268 rushing yards and 9.6 touchdowns per season, with an impressive 5.3 yards per carry. Though he may no longer be the all-purpose threat he once was, he remains a valuable asset—especially behind a strong offensive line like Dallas’, which just added Tyler Booker, considered the top run-blocker in the draft.
Still, adding Chubb may not be realistic. Dallas already signed veterans Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams and drafted two more backs, bringing the total to four.
As insider Mike Fisher put it, “There’s already likely going to be an odd man out from Sanders and Javonte and Blue and Mafah. There’s no need here. There’s no room at the inn.”
While Bryant’s enthusiasm is clear, the current roster doesn’t support a move for Chubb—at least not for now. Still, his push keeps the door open if injuries or roster moves change the outlook.
I like Chubby, but he is 100% wore out. He wouldn’t last the year. Poor dude hasn’t been the same since his injury. Sorry Dez.
