Cowboys Announce Devastating News That Could Derail Offense

The Dallas Cowboys received a concerning news before their Week 5 matchup against the Jets which could hamper Dak Prescott's performance.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off one of the games of the year, when they tied the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. The offense’s performance was quite impressive, with a huge performance from George Pickens. It won’t be the same offense trotting out in Week 5 against the struggling New York Jets, though.

They will be down four key contributors on offense when they head to MetLife Stadium.

Key Inactives for Dallas Offense

The Cowboys will be down four of their five starting offensive linemen against the Jets.

They will be without LT Tyler Guyton, LG Tyler Smith, RG Tyler Booker, and C Cooper Beebe. This is not a recipe for success after an excellent offensive showing to get on track.

The Cowboys are starting an entirely different line outside of RT Terence Steele. Smith will be available, but only if an emergency situation arises where he needs to play. They are also without star WR CeeDee Lamb, who also missed last week. These inactives could derail the progress the offense has made.

Through four games, the Cowboys have the fourth-best offensive line in the NFL with an 86.4 grade, according to PFSN’s OLi metric. Here are the individual OLi grades for each player:
Team OLi Grade: 86.4

  • G Tyler Smith: 87.6 (12th overall, 4th position)
  • Tyler Booker: 84.3 (26th overall, 8th position)
  • T Terence Steele: 83.9 (26th overall, 8th position)
  • Cooper Beebe: 79.9 (52nd overall, 16th position)
  • T Tyler Guyton: 73.3 (102nd overall, 33rd position)
  • C Brock Hoffman: 61.8 (158th overall, 35th position)

The Cowboys must get into the win column despite being shorthanded on the offensive line. The Jets have struggled for the majority of the season, although they’ve had tight losses to two 3-1 teams. If the Cowboys have any hope of getting into the playoff hunt, this is a game that they have to take.

Dallas owner Jerry Jones knows that this won’t be an easy game with all their injuries, but would be a great win for the team. It’s going to take everyone doing their part to get the victory.

“If we can get out of here with a win this would truly be a team win,” said Jones.

With a win in Week 5, the Cowboys will move to .500 on the season. After a wild offseason with trading away Micah Parsons, and the rough opening few games, many in the NFL world might not expect to see the Cowboys with the record that they could have after today.

The Jets will be coming hungry, looking for their first win of the year, and the defensive line will be hunting that depleted offensive line. It’s up to the defense and the remaining offensive weapons to make up for their big losses to help them inch their way back into contention.
