Cooper Kupp Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

After his season was cut short due to injury, what does Cooper Kupp's future look like, and what is his value in dynasty fantasy football leagues going forward?

As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of Cooper Kupp.

Cooper Kupp’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

I doubt I really need to recap Kupp’s accolades. In 2021, he posted the single greatest wide receiver season in fantasy history. Kupp caught 145 of 191 targets for 1,590 yards and 16 touchdowns. He averaged 25.9 ppg. All of those numbers led the NFL.

In 2022, it was more of the same from Kupp. An ankle injury cut his season short after just nine games, but he still averaged 22.4 ppg and was still the overall WR1.

Even more impressive, Kupp did this on an offense that regressed massively with a quarterback playing far worse. His average also included his 2.9 fantasy points in his final game of the season, where he was playing with John Wolford at quarterback.

Kupp is an elite talent. Had he not gotten hurt and Matthew Stafford never returned, he would’ve figured it out. With that said, Kupp isn’t the type of receiver that can overcome subpar QB play. He would still be good, but he would likely be more low WR1/high WR2 than the best wide receiver in fantasy. Kupp needs Stafford.

I have zero concerns about Kupp’s ankle or his health, in general. But that doesn’t mean he is without concerns.

First, there’s Stafford. He’s 35 years old and not going anywhere … as long as he wants to keep playing football. I don’t think he’s going to retire soon, but it’s certainly possible.

Second, there’s Kupp. He’ll be 30 years old this season. We saw absolutely no drop in ability last season and have no reason to expect it this year, but Kupp likely only has two or three more years left of being a top-five receiver.

Here’s the thing, though. Even two more years of this version of Kupp is tremendously valuable.

Cooper Kupp’s Fantasy Ranking

Dynasty managers tend to place a little too much emphasis on age. Obviously, if your team is rebuilding, you don’t want to be acquiring 30-year-old players. But if you’re competing at all this season, don’t let Kupp’s age scare you. I certainly wouldn’t go giving away an elite WR1 in Kupp for a sub-25-year-old WR2. I’d rather have the elite production for as long as I get it.

Kupp signed a massive three-year extension before last season. He’s not going anywhere until at least 2025.

Kupp is being treated as a WR2 in dynasty because of his age. I respectfully disagree. There are several guys typically ranked ahead of Kupp who shouldn’t be. Kupp remains an elite talent and, from the looks of it, is a screaming “buy” right now.

We currently have Kupp at WR15 (No. 45 overall) in our dynasty Superflex rankings. At that price, I’ll roll the dice on Stafford staying healthy, as that is the only thing standing between Kupp and another couple of years of smashing that valuation. If Kupp is there in the fourth round of dynasty startup drafts, sign me up.
