Cooper Kupp’s journey has taken an unexpected turn, but now he’s back home in Washington, ready to suit up for the Seattle Seahawks. After being released by the Los Angeles Rams, Kupp signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seahawks in March 2025. For a player who grew up watching this team, it’s a dream come true and a fresh start.
Will Cooper Kupp Play Versus Kansas City Chiefs?
For Seattle, it’s clear that they are ready to have him implemented in the offense alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba in 2025. His contribution and leadership will be essential to a squad that just narrowly missed out on the playoffs.
Even so, Kupp admits adjusting to a new offensive system hasn’t been easy. “It’s been stressful,” he said, but he also enjoys learning and appreciates the supportive, collaborative environment with his new teammates. Fans can expect that dedication to pay off on the field as he gels with the offense.

As the Seahawks gear up for Week 2 of the preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs, the big question is whether Kupp will play. The answer: yes. Kupp and most of Seattle’s starters are expected to take the field, even though he didn’t play in the preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“(There) might be a couple guys that will vary whether they are out there or not,” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “Still kind of working through it right now. But yeah, our guys are going to start the game out and we’ll see how long it goes.”
Kupp’s New Journey in Seattle After Career with Los Angeles Rams
For Kupp, this is the beginning of a new chapter, not just a preseason game. With 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns over 12 games, his 2024 season with the Rams was a combination of highs and lows. Even though he had a few memorable games, such as a 14-catch contest in Week 1, his output declined as the season continued.
Kupp is now concentrating on learning Seattle’s offense and developing a connection with quarterback Sam Darnold. Fans hope he can return to the outstanding form that made him one of the league’s best receivers after taking an offseason to heal from injuries.
With his Rams days behind him, Kupp is ready to embrace this new opportunity. His preseason debut against the Chiefs gives Seahawks fans a first look at what could be a bright future for their star wideout.
