Controversy Erupts After NFL Refs Miss ‘Blatant Offside’ Call That Proves Costly in Texans-Seahawks MNF Clash

The NFL fans on social media did not waste any time in calling out the referees after a missed call in the game between the Texans and Seahawks.

The Houston Texans are somehow still alive in Monday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have had plenty of chances to get the game out of reach, but continuously allowed the Texans to hang around. The Texans were knocking on the door of cutting the lead down in a goal-to-go situation, but failed on 4th down with less than a yard to go.

It was controversial, though, as it appeared that Demarcus Lawrence was offside and the Texans should have been given another shot. Fans took to social media to discuss the missed call.

Fans React to Huge Missed Call

Fans were all over the referees for missing a crucial offside on the Seahawks that helped them get a huge stop. Even the announcers pointed out the jump that Lawrence got and how he was offside.

“Offside by a country mile but what were the Texans gonna do about it anyway,” said one fan.

The Texans were within a yard of the end zone with three downs remaining. They couldn’t punch it in. The fan pointed out that even if they had made the correct call, the Texans weren’t playing well enough to feel confident in them scoring. But the fan still ripped the refs for missing an obvious call.

“That was a missed offside call but again Texans is a mess,” said another fan.

The Texans were very much a mess tonight. Their defense showed up causing four turnovers, but the offense not so much. The offensive line got terrorized all night and Stroud didn’t even complete 50% of his passes, partly because he was evading rushers all game. But that didn’t change the refs blowing a pivotal call.

“Lawrence offside by a mile. What are we doing @NFLOfficiating,” said one fan.

Another fan chimed in, “would have helped if they’d called the blatant offside.”

Other fans shifted to the extreme and called the NFL rigged.

“NFL is rigged man, 1st and goal at the 1 and Texans won’t QB sneak? Then a clear offside no call? Ya I’m sure,” said one fan.

The Texans had multiple opportunities to run a QB sneak to punch the ball in, but decided against it at every opportunity.

It cost them as a penalty moved them back beyond the 1-yard line and then they couldn’t punch it in. While the Texans should’ve been closer if the penalty was called, it didn’t go their way and they left points on the table, which ultimately cost them the game.
