    Commanders-Ravens Game Recap

The teams traded field goals, with Washington set up after Jackson’s second interception of the season. However, Baltimore largely controlled the first quarter, outgaining Washington 83-31 and holding the ball for 9:57.

Henry scored the first touchdown of the game, his league-leading seventh rushing score of the season. In doing so, Henry had his sixth straight game with a rushing score, tying the second-longest rush TD streak in Ravens history (J.K. Dobbins in 2020). He trails only Willis McGahee’s seven-game streak from 2007.

However, Daniels and the Commanders answered on the next drive, with McLaurin scoring for the third time in four games. Just six games into the season, McLaurin is one touchdown away from matching his total from the entire 2023 season (four).

Late in the first half, beleaguered Andrews fantasy managers were finally rewarded with the tight end’s first touchdown of the season. The score was the 41st receiving touchdown of Andrews’ career, tying Todd Heap for the Ravens franchise record and giving Baltimore a 17-10 halftime lead.

The Ravens restored their two-score lead in the third quarter with Henry’s second rushing score of the day. That gave Henry nine touchdowns in six games with the Ravens. Only Eric Dickerson (10) has scored more touchdowns in his first six games with a team since the 1907 merger.

The Ravens also eclipsed 100 rushing yards during the drive for the 39th straight game, eclipsing the 1935-39 Detroit Lions for the third-longest streak in NFL history. They trail only themselves from 2018-21 and the 1974-77 Pittsburgh Steelers (both at 43 straight).

Washington pulled back within one score with a 4th-and-goal conversion from the six-yard line, with McLaurin catching his second TD of the day and matching his total from 2023. It was the Commanders’ eighth consecutive fourth down conversion to begin the season.

However, Baltimore added a Justin Tucker field goal to take a 30-20 lead and held Washington out of the end zone on an eight-play drive that ate up most of the remaining clock. As a result, the Ravens needed only two first downs to seal their fourth straight win since an 0-2 start, with Washington’s four-game win streak coming to an end.

Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson Are Both in the Awards Conversation

Few offseason signings have been more impactful early than Henry. As alluded to earlier, Henry is the fourth player since the 1970 merger to score at least nine touchdowns in his first six games with a franchise, joining:

    • Eric Dickerson (10 with Rams)
    • De’Von Achane (nine with Dolphins)
    • Harold Jackson (nine with Rams)

Henry’s presence seems to have made life easier as well for Jackson, who has consecutive 300-yard passing games for the second time in his career. Jackson is now averaging 0.24 EPA per dropback, second-best behind only his counterpart in this game. For perspective, Jackson averaged only 0.07 EPA per dropback last year, when he won his second MVP.
