While parts of the 2026 NFL schedule have leaked this week, the full unveiling is Thursday evening.
Teams already know their opponents, but dates, times, and some locations will be revealed soon. To share the news, most teams announce their schedules on social media in creative ways, and the Washington Commanders have already begun.
Commanders Mock Cowboys With 2026 NFL Schedule Release
Like many NFL teams, the Commanders added humor to their schedule release.

Washington used old-school YouTube videos to show their opponents.
You can see several funny and creative videos that the Commanders have decided to use for their release. There are plenty of classic videos, such as the kid with his face painted simply responding “I like turtles,” to symbolize the New York Giants or David’s trouble after the Dentist being used for the Houston Texans. Using ‘Fred Goes Swimming’ to show off the Jaguars’ pool is also a favorite.
Several videos are funny, some even insulting – especially their jab at the Dallas Cowboys.

The image comes from a YouTube video by Jenna Marbles titled ‘How to trick people into thinking you’re good looking.’
The video itself is a tongue-in-cheek tutorial on ‘tricking people into thinking you’re really good looking,’ showing the ‘steps you can take to be good looking – kind of.’ Marbles discusses tanning and hair bleaching, basically poking fun at ways to drastically alter one’s appearance. The humor centers on masking reality, joking about efforts to ‘look nothing like themselves.’
This applies to the Cowboys, who were sports’ gold standard in the mid-90s, winning three Super Bowls in four years, but have struggled since.
Since 1996, they have won four playoff games and haven’t advanced past the divisional round since Super Bowl XXX.
After three straight postseasons from 2021-2023, including ending Tom Brady’s career with a 31-14 win over the Bucs in 2022, the Cowboys have gone 14-19 over the last two seasons, missing the playoffs both years.
Despite this, the Cowboys remain among the most popular and discussed teams in sports, regularly earning multiple primetime games. In 2026, they open the season in East Rutherford against the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
While it’s just a simple jab from a rival, there’s some truth in the insult, likely hitting close to home for some Cowboys fans.
The Commanders haven’t been a model franchise either, so their matchups with the Cowboys this season will be interesting.
Thursday evening, the NFL will release the full schedule, and we will provide continued analysis.
