The Anthony Richardson era in Indianapolis could be coming to an end, as the young quarterback has struggled early in his career. This offseason, the team brought in Daniel Jones to compete for the starting role, and the two have been battling throughout training camp.

But what does the Colts’ depth chart look like beyond Jones and Richardson? While they are the favorites to win the starting job, neither has shown elite play consistently, and Indianapolis may turn to other options if their struggles continue. Who Are the Indianapolis Colts’ Quarterbacks?

The Colts quarterback room is a tough spot. With no real superstar on the roster, multiple players could start games this season. Here’s a closer look at the four quarterbacks on the Colts’ depth chart.

Anthony Richardson

In the Colts’ first preseason depth chart, both Richardson and Jones were listed as co-starters, meaning Richardson hasn’t been placed ahead of Jones. Richardson was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he has yet to live up to expectations.

Through 15 games with the Colts, Richardson has thrown for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. In 2024, he earned a 59.5 grade in our QB+ metric, ranking 37th in the league.

The athleticism and physical tools that made him a top pick are still there, and if he can put everything together in 2025, he has the potential to be the team’s franchise quarterback. But for now, things appear to be trending in the opposite direction, and he’ll need to keep fighting through training camp to win the starting job.

Daniel Jones

Jones’ time in New York came to an end last season when the Giants released him midway through the year. A former No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Jones has shown flashes throughout his career but has struggled to find consistency.

Over six seasons with the Giants, he threw for 14,582 yards, 70 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions. After being cut, he was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings before eventually signing with the Colts this March.

Jones has been splitting first-team reps with Richardson throughout training camp and, as mentioned earlier, is co-listed as the team’s starter. If he outperforms Richardson during the preseason, he’ll be the Colts’ starting quarterback in 2025.

Riley Leonard

The Colts selected Riley Leonard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Leonard was a three-year starter in college, beginning his career at Duke before transferring to Notre Dame for his senior season.

He finished his college career with 7,311 passing yards, 45 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. Leonard brings strong athletic upside and is a formidable rushing threat. While he doesn’t have elite arm talent, he has a live arm and can make most of the throws needed at the NFL level.

It would take something drastic for Leonard to become the Colts’ starter in 2025, but he has the tools and potential to carve out a role in the league.

Jason Bean

Jason Bean joined the Colts as an undrafted rookie following the 2024 NFL Draft. He was released before the start of the 2024 season but later re-signed with the team on a reserve/future contract.

Bean played six seasons of college football at North Texas and Kansas. While he’s unlikely to make the Colts’ final 53-man roster, he could see action during the preseason.
