Colston Loveland’s NFL Draft Scouting Report

Colston Loveland is right in the thick of the TE1 conversation, and in any class without Brock Bowers or Tyler Warren, Loveland would very likely be the unequivocal TE1. Injuries and incompetent quarterback play impacted Loveland’s production in 2024, and yet, he still achieved a career-high 56 catches and five touchdowns, while racking up 582 yards.

While Warren is more complete, Loveland has the higher pass-game ceiling. At 6’6″ and almost 250 pounds, Loveland moves with truly logic-defying flexibility and bend, which lends itself to elite route-running ability. His route tree is all-encompassing, leveraging razor-sharp instincts, with unmatched athleticism that makes him a mismatch nightmare.

Colston Loveland’s Latest NFL Draft Projections

In PFSN’s latest seven-round mock draft, Ian Cummings projected Loveland to be selected 14th overall by the Indianapolis Colts.

Cummings said, “On one hand, the Colts have a deep WR room and an engine for a run-first offense in Jonathan Taylor. On the other hand, the lack of an X-factor at TE — a player who can impact the offense in both phases at a high level — may be hamstringing the unit.

“Loveland won’t enjoy the quality of QB play he desires after leaving Michigan, but he is indeed an X-factor for the Colts with his elite athleticism, route running variability, and smooth catch-point skills. And at 6’6″, 248 pounds, he has high upside as a blocker.”
