Browns Predicted To Draft ‘Big-Bodied QB With a Rocket Arm’ in 2026 to Replace Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders

After benching Joe Flacco, the Cleveland Browns could draft LaNorris Sellers in 2026, looking for a long-term solution over Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders.

In the most recent 2026 NFL mock drafts, the Cleveland Browns are projected to select a South Carolina quarterback, potentially serving as a long-term solution for their rookie quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

This prediction comes during talks about the Browns’ continued quest for a franchise quarterback after a tough 2025 season.

Could Sellers Be One of the Top QB Prospects for 2026, per NFL Analysts?

In a 3-round 2026 NFL mock draft by Anthony Infante, the Browns are mocked to take Sellers at No. 4 overall. Infante described LaNorris Sellers as “a big-bodied QB with a rocket arm, tremendous athleticism, and great sack avoidance. He hasn’t taken a giant leap in terms of consistency in 2025, but the flashes of accuracy are absolutely there. An NFL team will bet on the upside and take him in the first round.”

Similarly, the NFL draft analyst Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic, the Browns selected Sellers with the No. 6 overall pick. Baumgardner stated, “Physically, Sellers remains — and will remain — the most physically impressive quarterback in the class. He still needs to show more consistency throughout South Carolina’s SEC schedule and might benefit from another year of school. If his elite, dual-threat flashes become more of the norm, though, he could be the No. 1 pick.”

In this prediction, Sellers is the second quarterback to be taken, right behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, who the New Orleans Saints pick up at No. 2.

These predictions are based on the recent quarterback shifts and performance of the Browns in the 2025 NFL season.

Cleveland selected two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft: Dillon Gabriel from Oregon and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado.

However, as Kevin Miller of On3 notes, “many around the NFL believe that another bad season for the Browns (which would have to happen to earn the sixth pick) could lead to the team picking a quarterback early next spring.”

Further details from the Infante mock indicated, “The Cleveland Browns benched Joe Flacco in favor of Dillon Gabriel coming into Week 5, and they still have Shedeur Sanders waiting in the wings, too. But neither of those rookie quarterbacks have the high-level draft investment to indicate the team sees them as franchise players.”

Sellers, who is ranked 69th in PFSN’s CFB QBi ranking, is a redshirt sophomore known for his impressive physical traits and ability to be a dual threat.

After the 2025 college season, he will have two years of eligibility remaining, so he could choose to return to school. There’s a suggestion that another year could help him gain consistency, particularly with South Carolina’s SEC schedule ahead.
