Day two of the 2026 NFL Draft is upon us, and some players are clenching their teeth awaiting the announcement of their name.
Following day one, a plethora of potential young stars remain on the board, wondering why they were not chosen in the first round. One player many thought would be off the table by now, Georgia linebacker CJ Allen.
C.J. Allen Awaits NFL Opportunity As Day Two Looms
On PFSN’s Big Board, Allen was graded as the third-overall prospect in terms of linebackers. The two names ahead of the Georgia Bulldog: Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, both Ohio State Buckeyes, both went in the first round.
Whether teams were uninterested in the linebacker position or Allen himself early on, there is little to no chance the 230-pound bruiser will remain on the board after day two.
According to PFSN’s scouting report on Allen, he received an overall score of 84.75, with notably high grades in processing (9.5), physicality (8.92), and explosiveness (8.75). The 21-year-old gained a larger role in the SEC powerhouses’ defense each year, culminating in 2025.
Registering 88 total tackles, 4 pass defenses, 2 forced fumbles, and 3.5 total sacks, Allen proved to be a game wrecker his junior year. According to PFSN’s CFB LB Impact Metric, he had an impact score of 81.8, ranking 22nd at his position. Additionally, the Georgia native has experience in big-game situations, helping the Bulldogs to a top-10 ranking in each of the previous two seasons.
Unfortunately, Kirby Smart’s squad fell short each time around, plummeting out of the tournament in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in back-to-back years.
Although there is plenty of good in Allen’s game, PFSN’s Ian Cummings has been wary of the youngster, voicing concerns of drafting him too highly even before the draft.
When comparing Allen to Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez on “Football Debate Club,” Cummings was blunt.
“Personally, I’m not sure I’d draft either one [Allen or Rodriguez] in round one,” said Cummings. “I’ve got concerns about CJ Allen’s coverage ability. I think he’s decent, I think he’s serviceable, but I question the upside.”
Potentially proving the draft analyst’s point, Allen continues to wait to see where he will land.

After trading out of the first round entirely, the San Francisco 49ers will kick off day two with the 33rd overall pick. Kyle Shanahan’s team originally held the 27th overall pick before dealing that and the 138th choice to the Miami Dolphins for picks No. 30 and 90 (third round).
Following that deal, the 49ers made another trade, giving up the 30th pick for picks 33 and 179 (fifth round). Now, San Francisco will begin day two at 7 p.m. ET.
