Xavier Worthy Shares His Thoughts on Taylor Swift’s Reaction

The moment a player is selected in the NFL Draft is one of the most emotional and moving in sports, impacting not only the player’s life but also fans and future teammates. Draft stories often become part of the league’s popular lore, sometimes turning iconic depending on the circumstances.

When Worthy was picked by the Chiefs, the storyline quickly grew even bigger. Kansas City had traded with the Buffalo Bills, one of their fiercest rivals, to get him, fueling the rivalry even more since Buffalo had essentially “allowed” a dangerous weapon to fall into Patrick Mahomes’ hands.

One fan who loved the move was Swift. She revealed on the podcast that she ran through her house screaming when she found out the Chiefs had selected Worthy, a scene that likely would have never happened if she weren’t dating Kelce.

“I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, we drafted Xavier Worthy,” Swift said.

Swift’s reaction came during an episode of “New Heights,” her first-ever podcast appearance. Worthy was shown the clip so he could react to what she had said about him.
Worthy, who had a relatively quiet rookie season before breaking out with a huge Super Bowl performance, was surprised and flattered by the pop star’s excitement.

“I ain’t gonna lie, she’s the biggest pop star in this generation, so it’s crazy to have somebody running around the house screaming, we drafted you. That’s tight though, that’s what’s up,” Worthy said.

Selected 28th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Worthy helped the Chiefs bring back a true vertical threat to their passing game, something they had lacked since Tyreek Hill’s departure in 2022. Even with a slow start, he came alive late in the year and delivered one of the best individual showings in Super Bowl history.

His 157 receiving yards ranked as the fifth-most ever in a Super Bowl, and his two touchdown catches showed he is set to become a central piece of Kansas City’s offense in 2025.

Swift may have gone wild over the pick, but she wasn’t wrong. Worthy’s athleticism makes him one of the NFL’s most promising young players, especially with Mahomes throwing to him and Andy Reid coaching him.
