Chiefs Injury Report: Latest on Trent McDuffie, Trey Smith, Jawaan Taylor, Others in Week 15

An updated look at the Chiefs injury report heading into Week 15, including Trent McDuffie, Trey Smith, and Jawaan Taylor.

In Week 14 of the 2025 NFL Season, the Kansas City Chiefs lost a crucial home game against the Houston Texans, thwarting any realistic chances of a late-season playoff push.

Patrick Mahomes and Co. aren’t mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet, but they’ll need a win in Week 15 against the Chargers to keep any hopes alive. Here’s an update on the Chiefs’ injury status heading into their Week 15 matchup with the Chargers.

What Key Contributors are Injured for the Kansas City Chiefs?

As of 10 a.m. CST on Wednesday, December 10, the Chiefs have several players on the injury report, with more likely to be added as the week of practice rolls on.

Here are the latest updates to the injury situation:

1) Trent McDuffie

While attempting to cover Texans WR Nico Collins downfield in the first quarter of action on Sunday night, Trent McDuffie landed awkwardly and immediately came up limp. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a knee injury and is considered questionable for Week 15.

McDuffie has yet to miss a game this season. If he has to sit out of Sunday’s game against the Chargers, the Chiefs will be without their best weapon in the secondary.

2) Trey Smith

Dealing with an ankle injury, guard Trey Smith didn’t log a single practice leading up to the Chiefs’ Week 14 game against the Texans and was expectedly ruled out. With a decimated offensive line trying desperately to protect Mahomes, Smith’s practice availability will be something to keep an eye on as the week moves forward.

Smith hasn’t played since the Chiefs’ 23-20 OT win over the Indianapolis Colts on November 23.

3) Wanya Morris

As if the offensive line situation couldn’t be worse for the Chiefs, LT Wanya Morris went down with a knee injury on the first play of the Chiefs-Texans game on Sunday night.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Morris’ knee injury was season-ending.

4) Jawaan Taylor

Dealing with both a triceps and knee injury, OT Jawaan Taylor didn’t practice leading up to the Chiefs-Texans game. He was unable to play in the game, missing his first game of the season.

He’s currently listed as questionable for the Week 15 matchup against the Chargers. With Morris out for the season, Josh Simmons on the injured reserve list, and Smith questionable, Kansas City desperately needs Taylor to heal up before this Sunday.

5) Nikko Remigio

26-year-old rookie Nikko Remigio is working through a shoulder injury. He was a limited participant last Friday before being ruled out ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 14 game. He’s now listed as questionable heading into Week 15.

Remigio has only logged one reception this season and hasn’t yet played a crucial role in the Chiefs’ offense. However, with a struggling wide receiver room, the opportunities are there for Remigio if he’s able to suit up.
